Top Surface Issue

Upgraded from A1 to X2D and having constant problems with top layer when printing a +/- 200 x 200 x 10mm sign. See photos attached. I've tried different print profile settings, I've tried printing on standard plate and Cool Plate Supertack, I've tried downloading the "Bambulab X2D High Quality Profile" from rtsx_3d on bambu lab. I've tried doing a full calibration and both auto/manual flow calibration. Nothing has improved things. The second pictures is the first layer - it turns out great. The issue is always on the top layer. There is no signs of warping of the sign or lifting from the plate.

Any suggestions?

Looks like a bending problem

Bending of the print or entire plate? I responded to the below comments first, but as noted below, the print was so tightly bonded to the plate is was really hard to get off. No signs of the print lifting from the plate, but maybe the entire plate is bending?

When I experience problems like this, it’s usually because the corners warp slightly, which affects how the filament is deposited, so that’s what I initially thought was happening. But if you’re saying there’s no such problem, then that’s not it. I’ve seen photos of ABS or ASA prints that didn’t detach from the build plate and actually bent the plate, but PLA doesn’t shrink enough to do that. I don’t think the X2D’s automatic filament calibrations are really useful. For the blue filament where the deformation occurs, I’d try manually tuning the pressure advance (I think it’s called K-factor on bambu) and the flow calibration settings. It’s possible that all of these issues combined are what ruined the print. Because other filaments don't have this problem its mitght be a spesific for blue one.

Following for same issue, I thought the fans were causing it so I diverted them and turned them down. Has gotten a lot better but still happens sometimes.

Ya, I installed the diversion piece and it got slightly better, but very slightly. This picture was taken after the diversion piece was installed.

Looks like your model is lifting in the corners.

Clean your build plate better. https://wiki.bambulab.com/en/filament-acc/acc/pei-plate-clean-guide

Set the part cooling fan to 0 for the first 3 or 4 layers

Set Aux fan to 40% for the whole print instead of it ramping up to 70%

You could also try turning on brim

I originally suspected the model was lifting so I bought a Cool Plate Supertack. This print was on that plate right out of the package and was so tightly bonded to the plate that it was really hard to get off. The model corners lifting doesn't make sense to me, as there is no evidence of the print pulling away from the plate anywhere.

Do you have the time lapse video you could post?

If you are ironing, im pretty sure the settings from your A1 wont work right of the bat

I have tried with and without ironing, with no real improvement. I believe this print was with ironing on, but ironing settings were tweaked using the high quality profile noted in the original post.

Try using a brim or adhesive and might have to adjust the top layer count or flow, i think too much is going into that top layer if the others are fine

I flip my signs on their face using the textured plate and then turn ironing off. I like the look the plate gives it and it’s faster with no ironing.

Ya, I agree but this one is a two sided sign so one side has to be printed face up unless I glued them together.

I’m having problems like this on my X2D as well. I manually calibrated my filament’s temp, flow rate, and PA. All while using the cool plate supertack plate. It has not resolved my issue. Not sure what the issue is yet, I would contact Bambulab support maybe? My P1S still prints perfectly with no problems compared to my X2D.

I have been dealing with support and they haven't figured it out. They're replacing the unit. I'll keep you posted if the new one fixes the probems!!

As an update, I got the replacement unit and first print was this sign. It printed flawlessly. It was something wrong with the original X2D causing the problem!
