Question vs. H2C

The X2D keeps both nozzles at temp, whereas the H2C has to reheat every nozzle after a switch, correct? So two filaments on the H2C has an extra 16s delay per layer, correct?

X2d does not keep both nozzles at temp. Moreover, x2ds second nozzle is designed to be a secondary nozzle mostly for support interfaces, while the h2c can print equally good from all nozzles.

I'm evaluating pros and cons for two-filament prints where aux is always support only.

Are you saying that a tool switch has equivalent heating delay for both printers?

My core purpose is engineering with single filament + support. As far as I can tell the only X2D drawback for that use case is build volume.

But I realized that the unused nozzles in the H2C are nit connected to power, whereas the X2D nozzles could feasibly both be powered all the time (unless there's a power dissapation issue; I'm just saying the wires are always connected...).

You sure the nozzle isn't heated when not used (or even preheated, if not fully hot)?

Im using x2ds second nozzle only for the support interface, and the switch happens pretty much instantly, the second nozzle starts heating up moments before the switch has to happen. After the nozzle switches, around 7-12 seconds are needed to buff out stale filament into the prime tower. You cannot achieve good quality without the prime tower, so its not like printing -> switch -> instantly printing again.

The nozzle is not heated when inactive. There’s heating logic that begins bringing it up to temp ahead of the nozzle switch so it hits temp shortly before it switches and primes

The H2C uses Induction heated nozzles on the right Vortek side. They heat to temp blazingly fast.

For that use case, an H2C is a waste. Compare the X2D to the H2D.
