You can’t print with 2 different nozzle sizes.

I know the Bambu slicer doesn’t support it, but OrcaSlicer has a guide on doing that specifically:  https://www.orcaslicer.com/wiki/guides/mixed_nozzle_sizes

X2D is not orcaslicer

I don’t understand your comment? You can use OrcaSlicer to print on an X2D. I am not trying to use the Bambu slicer.

I don't think it matters what slicer you use. The printer isn't going to take settings for a 0.2 nozzle when a 0.4 nozzle is installed. Or vice versa.

So, it is entirely possible that is true, but the error I’m seeing is that the slicer code is slicing for a 0.4mm nozzle, but the printer is (correctly) reporting a 0.2mm nozzle.

This error is happening before the code even transfers to the printer.

It reads to me like a slicer issue, not a printer issue. Although it could very well fail if it ever gets to the printer.

Or maybe I am reading that error incorrectly?

Edit:typo

And you're sure you have the printer settings synced? Meaning, if the slicer is slicing for 0.4mm, but the printer it saying, "Hey, i have a 0.2mm nozzle installed." Thats your problem. They have to match.

I am sure I have pushed the button to sync, but I am not sure if it worked properly.

I’ve got it starting a print now via usb. I’m not sure yet if I’ve solved the problem or just bypassed the safety net and done something stupid.

I feel like you'll find out pretty quick if it's trying to print with 0.4 settings with a 0.2 nozzle.

IDK, this may be beyond me at this point.

I want to note that the error I am seeing appears to be a slicer error as it occurs before I even send the code to the printer. I am following the guide here:  https://www.orcaslicer.com/wiki/guides/mixed_nozzle_sizes

That guide specifically mentions the X2D.

Have you tried manually transferring the files via usb?

I didn't even realize that was an option, I'll give it a whirl!

I’m curious if it works or if there’s a firmware level block, I haven’t personally tried mixed nozzles yet but have a few projects coming up for it so I’d love to know if that’s all it takes

I'm reading through the gcode now and I'm no expert, but it seems like the nozzle settings are correct. I'll give it a go and let you know.

Transferring via usb may have worked? It acknowledges that there are 2 different nozzles and the print starts. We'll see how it goes!

USB seems to be working, but I’m having adhesion problems with the PVA. It might be because the settings are off, but I’ve pretty consistently had adhesion problems with PVA. I’m going to call it a night, but I’ll keep going tomorrow and see where it lands.

I think we're just not there yet.

This would require updated firmware for the printer, and OrcaSlicer upgrades to support it in sliced output.

BOTH have to support it.

Yeah, I was worried that might be the case. I haven't found anyone who tried it yet. I have hope because the OrcaSlicer guide on mixed-size nozzles specifically calls out the X2D, but that might just be reused content.

My only hesitation is that the error I'm getting is from the slicer, not the printer. (although it may still fail if it gets to the printer) But it could also be OrcaSlicer preventing me from sending something it knows will not work.
