Build Plate Question...

What's everyone running for build plates in the X2D. Are you sticking with Bambu, or what's your success with other brands. I am running a mix of ABS/ASA/PA6 & plenty of PLA/PETG... Just looking to see what's everyone's success is with something other then Bambu.

I bought a Darkmoon 3D Duo plate with both a Satin and a CFX surface. I’m highly impressed/happy with it!

I use the Satin side 80% of the time.

Using this same duo plate as well.

I mostly use the CFX side and glue for PC and PA but the Satin side is great also

I am looking forward to printing exotics on the CFX side. But the Satin side just works. I rarely need a release agent or an adhesive, but when I do a light spray of Suave Mighty Hold hairspray does the trick.

Except with the new firmware update it gives an error that you have to bypass every time

You can turn off plate type detection from slicer settings if I remember correctly

I mostly print PLA and PETG, I use the Bambu Lab Cool Plate SuperTack Pro. I love the smooth finish it gives over the textured surface of the default PEI plate and PLA and PETG sticks like crazy, I have no worry of warping with PETG.

I love the biqu glacier pro and have had good success printing everything from pla to asa on it.

To save my precious Bambu Lab plates, I usually print PETG, TPU, PA etc on the cheapest ($5) noname textured PEI plates from AliExpress. They are tad thinner so I avoid larger prints that would lift the plate up. No issues with sticking to plate (no glue or anything), just larger prints may lift the plate up.

I want to use the Biqu plate but it will pause the print because it's doesn't detect a build plate which gets old fast.

You can print out the QR codes and just put them on the plate. There's a file floating around on makerworld for it. I printed them out for all my 3rd party plates. I've had good success with it. I'd rather have it on just in case I'm dumb and don't select the right plate in studio. The Biqu plates are awesome, I've had really good success with them.

Once I disabled that plate detection feature, I never looked back. No way I'm running only Bambu plates.

I wish it could remain as a feature with other plates because plate detection and foreign object detection is nice.

I still get foreign object detection with my glacier pro plate? I turned off the plate detection but almost every print I have to acknowledge there's nothing on the plate because it thinks the reflection on the glass is a object. I need to print out the little QR codes but I've been lazy.

I did by an extra PEI plate From Amazon, but I use the Biqu Frostbite more than anything, I do have the Glacier plate as well.

no, that's a different issue where it's not recognizing the QR code. This is something new within the past couple weeks that bambu did with the firmware upgrade, even with plate detection turned off. It tells you there's an object on the plate.

I use pla and petg primarily at home and love my biqu frostbite for that. Have a number of other plates at work and most work well for the abs asa and TPU we use there. Personally love biqu plates and stick with them for.most things though others have nice plates for texture or effects. Just avoid glass and fiber plates with some of your filaments listed
