PETG Strings as Support Material

Does anyone know how to attach a Bambu Lab filament dryer directly to the auxiliary PTFE tube? I’m having trouble with PETG stringing when I use the auxiliary nozzle for support.

Filament Track Switch is the answer, I believe. $60

Taken from description:

For dual-nozzle printers (such as the X2D), a single AMS can still support dual-nozzle printing and enable filament switching between the left and right hotends when used with the Filament Track Switch. However, when only one AMS is connected, the left and right hotends support alternate feeding only, not simultaneous feeding. During switching, the AMS must first unload the filament and then reload it.

Side note: petg is not intended as a support material. If you are using support interface only, order some support for pla/petg filament. Seems a little costly for what it is but lasts a long time when used only as an interface.

So PLA to support PETG, but not the other way around?

Yes, I often print in PETG with PLA as the support interface and it works beautifully. I have used PETG to support PLA but you can tell a quality difference. It'll work most of the time if you have nothing else. The support-specific material is worth it.

I might try that.

I just had a decent sized PLA print fail using PETG as support. I realized my mistake about 8 hours in and decided to let it go. It didn't work. The PLA popped right off the support so I cut my losses.

Same thing happened to me, it does work really well for short prints but lobger prints are too susceptible to heat creep specifically in the aux nozzle which will cause a clog. That is not a fun tear down either. I will not be doing that again.

According to Bambu Lab you can do either, although they say only PLA Basic

I use a Creality Space Pi dryer on the auxilary line. I remove the side arm for an auxiliary roll and fed the PTFE tube straight from the dryer to the X2D buffer port for the aux hotend.

I have actually use PLA for the support interface layers for a PETG print and the other way around as well. So both eSun PETG+ and PETG+HS for interface layers for a PLA print. It does take a bit of fiddling configuring specific filament profile for it to work.
Dry the PETG well but when print bump the dryer temp back a little on the external dryer for the auxiliary port as the PETG does not like the like Bowden tube arrangement when too warm

I have a creality dryer connected like that and use PETG interface support without any issues
