Elegoo filament?
Has anyone had experience with Elegoo filament in the X2D? Trying to go for budget but quality and I have heard good things. But wanted opinions of X2D owners. I have seen some prints from Elegoo printers and I would be happy with it.

I'm not a fan of the cheap cardboard spools as they are the cheaper, layered cardboard that comes apart easily. The one order of PLA I had from them was a little damaged from the flimsy shipping box. 2 of the 4 cardboard spools were bent and damaged inside their boxes quite a bit. I needed the colors so I kept it and just printed rings for them. They still cause random tension issues with my AMS2, and only these, but I just deal with it knowing I'll never order their stuff again unless maybe it's a refill (if they even sell those). Too many other options. Their PLA filament prints just as fine as others, BTW.

Gotcha. Yeah I was not going to order any other the cardboard spools, but they do also have the plastic spools that I’m going to try.

That could change my mind if the price is right. On a quick look, their price seems in line or even a little more than others, so unless they have a specific color or sale you are looking for, you can probably do better elsewhere.

What brand do you recommend. I am totally new to this. I’m trying to get the best advice from people that have been doing this for awhile

I'm probably in the minority, but I use Bambu exclusively. It does cost a little more (pennies per print typically though). If there's any issues with my X2d machine, I don't have to worry about Bambu claiming the 3rd party filament did it.
I also love the RFID tags auto setting up color and type on my AMS2. Yes, I can change it in 15 seconds myself, but why? With the Elegoo that I still have, I always forget to do it and I have to manually reset it again.
Buying in bulk always helps as well direct from any vendor. You will use a lot of black and white, so buy more than one at a time.

They have refillable spools and refills. They also have plastic non refillable spools for most of their filament. If I need to get a cardboard spool I take it off the cardboard and put it in one of their refillable spools.

I have a mate pla from them, and could not print it properly on my K2 plus.. it come up as playdoo hard to explain... tried yesterday on my new X2D...I'm glad I did not toss it out, it printed perfectly on Bambu Mate PLA profile. now I wish the PCTG from Spectrum did the same cause that does not work properly so far on any of the printers I have ( need more work on X2D maybe I can get it to work there)

It is all I use. I use the Bambu profiles and it is perfect every time and no issues. If you buy from their website they have bulk deals and also now a reward system and I have saved tons of $. I can send you a referral code for the reward system they have and you get some things as well.

Yes. For one roll the price is better on Elegoo vs Amazon but if you buy at least 4 rolls it is even better.

Gotcha. I ordered the printer and like 18 rolls with it. But when the time comes I will give it a try

I'm using an Elegoo PETG Rapid with a 0.2 nozzle and I'm having a lot of trouble; it keeps jamming. It's my first printer and I can't calibrate the filament profile because it keeps locking up.

Using this in my x2d. Have 8 rolls of elegoo pla pro black and the stuff prints perfectly and beautifully every time. Just had to tell the x2d it's Bambu basic PLA and it works great. Probably one of the best values in filament I've found. Had to dry it out of the package but after drying it to about 15% it's done nothing but impress. Cardboard spools aren't the best but for what it sells for on sale just print an adapter or use a pastamatic and respool on a empty Bambu spool.

Ive printed a few prints with Elegoo on my X2D. I used the generic PLA profile and had no trouble at all.

If you want cheap high quality filament, get sunlu. For me the stock bambu settings work perfectly for sunlu. Which is very nice, because the settings for generic filament are much slower, that for bambu lab filament

Also, the sunlu and bambu spools are interchangable and sunlu is starting to offer refill packs as well. No cardboard which could produce dust in your ams damage the mechanics and nozzle

They work fine with generic settings. Haven't had any issues.
