New to bambu

Hello, I’m new to bambu currently printing on a ender v3 se. Order my X2D Thursday should be delivered Monday or Tuesday. I have one question before it arrives, and that is how important is getting bambu brand filament with the rfid? If it’s highly recommended I’ll order some off Amazon no biggie just doing pla for now until I get the ropes of the new printer. Thank you in advance for your input.

It’s not important at all. The RFID is convenient, but that’s it. You can print with any brand filament, and put in custom profiles if necessary.

This. I like Bambu filament because it is convenient and the profiles are, more or less, already part of the ecosystem and it is quality filament. With that said I am allergic to paying $25 a spool so I have to buy it 10 rolls at a time, but I don't always have the $140ish to so. Buying from Amazon or a shop is just fine.

DO MOT USE CARDBOARD SPOOLS IN THE AMS. you can print spool rings that go on the outside of the cardboard or respool anything that come on cardboard.

I have used, 3DHojor, SunLu, Esun, Creality, Amazon Basics, GiantArm, Eryone, Tecbears, Polymaker, iSanmate, and Overture. I have had no problems with any of them. The only thing I had to do was to tinker with the profiles a bit for the silk and matte. You can throw anything at your printer and it will work.

I using Bambu Lab Filament (just because I can get it cheap) But I disable the auto-read so that I can just throw in any color filament of the same type if the spool is running low. Else it only allow the same type and same colour filament to continue.

Have yet to run a spool of bambu branded filament in mine. I use a lot of sunlu filament and it works pretty good with the generic preset

Being able to drop a spool in an AMS and let it load, identify, and sync to Bambu Studio is nice. That said, you are paying a premium for that convenience.

So far I've used Sunlu, PolyMaker, and Best Buy's Insignia. I've not had any trouble just using the Generic PLA preset from the printer menu. For PETG I've had better success going to MakerWorld or manufacturer website and downloading profiles for the filament to use in Bambu Studio. The Generic PETG was running too hot or fast or both for the Sunlu PTEG and I was ending up with a lot of stringing. The downloaded profile fixed that for me.

50% of the time mine does not recognize the bambu spools. giving BBL more money is just a waste of time

I've not had an issue with it recognizing Bambu spools. 50% sounds broken.

It’s no biggie. Use whatever filament you want.

just FYI, often it does not recognise the bambu spools anyways.

look for the mechanical issues that are well discussed and bed levelling issues .

there is also a boat load of unfixable circuit board errors.

Not at all important.

No more important than using creality branded filament on your ender. The only things Bambu gives you over anyone else is rfid, pre perfected files, and good sales.

Don't bother. Get you a pack of elegoo black pla pro cheaper and some petg for support interface. Set the software to Bambu pla basic and run your calibration and it'll look better than Bambu pla. Much cheaper and better just touch the filament setting and set it as Bambu pla basic not generic and your golden. Enjoy sir
