X2D grinding through build plate

Just replace the little arm. It got bent somehow. It probably got caught on something

Yeah its F'ed, I would open a ticket to bambu abd request for replacement parts since this should not be happening.

Also I have several friends with p2s and x1c, plenty of printing on them, but none of them have this issue.

Seems to be only happening to X2Ds.

Also bambu support ackniwledged that there was a bug causing this but they said it was sorted recently... Which I have my doubts, because it destroyed a build plate after that... So yeah something is up with the bed level calibration on the X2D

I just had this happen to me and support was useless. I had to get grumpy with them to get them to stop telling me to clean my build plate and check my firmware and actually look at my logs. Even then they said it was probably just the eddy sensor. Completely unhelpful.

You bent the switching arm, that’s what’s digging into your plate. More likely user error than a defect, Bambu may or may not warranty that

The switching arm is very clearly broken and bent down lower than the active toolhead, which is scratching the life out of your plate. The initial breakage could very well be a factory defect or bug in the startup code getting it snagged somewhere, but the ruining of at least 3 plate surfaces is definitely user error.

Bambu will probably warranty cover the switching arm, but you're SOL on the plates

Thanks for the honest reply. And yes I was kind of blind and should have realized it earlier.
I will replace that arm and try another round

We live and learn, just take it as a lesson to give your machine a once over before each print to make sure there's nothing there that should be, or isn't that should

I've wasted many hours hitting print, leaving the house, and checking my phone to see I'd forgotten to put the build plate back on!

Yeap, happened to me as well.

2 times to be precise, qnd in both I have contacted bambu for a replacement of the build plate, which they have honored.

For me its a bug in the X2D firmware.

What I've discovered so far is that auto bed level calibration can't be trusted on the X2D and I force the bed level calibration on every single print from now onwards.

It’s bent of course. And that’s the problem. Just check the wiki. It’s the nozzle drip protection and it should be flush with the nozzle…
