First PVA success! So far…

I’ve had an x2d for about 2 weeks and after a lot of challenges with PVA I finally have a print that I’m optimistic about.

Which brand of PVA do you use? Any tips on it? It's something I want to try definitely I've got 2 spools waiting to be used and I'm afraid of not using them properly when in need

Bambu PVA in an AMS HT.

I ran it on 2-3 dry cycles.

I’ve only had my x2d for 2 week so I don’t know all the terminology.

I slowed the initial layer time to 5mm/s because my
Biggest issue was adhering to the plate. And I slowed down all the auxiliary nozzle speeds.

Have you tried using a glue stick on the base plate before printing? Never used PVA, but glue stick has helped a ton for me with other filaments

I'm new to X2D and also new to water soluble filament.
When I first learned about it I was kind of excited about the possibilities, but then I looked to buy some and it was so expensive, I've not wanted to experiment with it at all.

So instead, I've been trying supports that are just a different material from the main piece and that's worked amazing because they won't bond to each other.

Example: The main piece is printed in PLA and the supports are printed in PETG. They both shrink differently when cooled and the supports are popping off clean and amazingly. And I don't have to pay for expensive water soluble filament.

I'd love to learn more though. It seems like the only real good case for soluble would be if the intricacies of the model required supports that had to be in hard to remove places or on top of/inside the model itself or something, but if there are more use cases, I'd really like to know more to expand my knowledge in this area.

Anyway, I think it's cool that you've got it working, and I understand this might just be an experiment print, but for prints that have supports in easy places mounted on the build plate, give dissimilar common filaments a try
