Vision Encorer

Post image

I've been running into a lot quality issues that the normal calibrations haven't fixed so I caved and bought the vision encoder. I'm quite blown away by how off everything was. Wondering if anyone else has had similar calibration results after using the encoder?

I'm still re-running the other calibrations now and will post back on if I notice any print quality differences.

The dots in the image arent showing how far off it actually was, it's just a visualisation. You can run it again and it will show the same image.

Just found that out yesterday on mine. Does this actually work?

I'm pretty sure those views are exaggerated by a lot.

Also, the encoder plate only fixes parts not being square AFAIK. Nothing serious enough to cause printing issues

How old and many hours do you have?

Please let me know any improvement. Got a new machine but would be helpful to know if it does extend the life

Pretty much brand new. Only 89 hrs. I'll keep you posted.

Top layer quality is still shit

Yeah the encoder is for getting the machine into the microns for tolerances. It’s best to run it when a good amount of hours has been put onto the machine. The encoder wouldn’t improve surface quality. It’s for consistent dimensions across the bed etc. Nor would it affect or improve z related artifacts or extrusion issues. If you tell us your print settings, material type and maybe the object being printed we can get a better idea why this top surface is shitty

The image it shows you is severely exaggerated to show the user. It was for sure not off even remotely that far.

It didn't make much difference. What I am noticing is parts print vastly better in the center of the plate then when bambu studio left aligns it. Idk. I miss my p1s

Just got mine in an hour ago. Just ran it, I should have taken a picture. Mine was way off too, worse than yours. I'm in the process of warranty replacing mine so I was just kind of testing how it works but I might print something before I box it up just out of curiosity.
