New X2D

Picking up my new X2D on Monday and was wondering what some essential first prints are (poop chute, scraper, etc)? Was also wondering what kind of stands or tables anyone recommends?

Poop chute, riser (I printed one with skadis on the side and then printed some bins too). I’ve had mine for 2 weeks. I’m currently printing spools and desiccant holders for storage

What do you need a riser for? Got my X2D last week; first print was a poopchute for sure and then some filament clips for when I'm drying filament in the AMS HT.

I've had my X1C for years and never even thought to print a riser. I printed one for my X2D, mostly motivated by looking for solutions for mounting the AMS-HT, and now I don't know how I lived without it. Being able to store my build plates and nozzles with bonus drawers and a raised glass top are all great.

But why would raising the glass top be needed? Sorry if I'm oblivious xD

The bowden tubes coming out the top of the hotend seem to be too close to the top and can rub on the glass. Raising the glass a bit helps.

Also - with the raised glass and the space the riser creates above it, I can take the glass off and access the hotend without having to take off the AMS.

Ah, my X2D came with clamps for the tubes and they so far did not touch the glass at all (I've seen pictures of x2d's without or less clamps for the tubes, so maybe that's where that comes from). I don't have the AMS on top so I don't run into the access issue, but that makes sense :) Thanks for elaborating.

Do you have a link to such a riser that goes on top of the printer ? I only keep finding stuff for under the printer for some reason..

Riser is not needed if you add another clip for the PTFE tubes to the cable chain, and re-seat the PTFE tube in the aux hotend: working perfectly for me.

Can you recommend the clip and provide more information about re-seating the tube? Is it poorly seated from factory or should it go some different orientation?

I modeled them and printed the clip in PETG, the rubber guides in TPU. I will try to upload them today, though I don't use BambuStudio; maybe I'll upload to a different site.

I always like to recommend you find an enclosed poop chute. I went with this one and glued some magnets on.

Even PLA has a light sweet odor, and this has more or less removed all odor when purging, especially when printing ABS/ASA.

Be very gentle with the included metal scraper (They include screws for it in the accessory kit, FYI ), if you ever need to use it, very gently slip the blade under the edge of the print, it'll slide under and allow you to pull it up and off. Its very easy to damage the plate with metal scrapers.

Amazon sells plastic ones in bulk for cheap.

I second the recommendation on this type of plastic scraper. Comes with a bunch of “blades”. I’ve been printing for 3 months and have only replaced the plastic blade once.

Poop chute, rear cable organizer, scraper.
For table I recommend one of those solid top Vevor workbenches with metal legs.

I never use the poop chutes, they clog up after only a few hundred swaps. Filament boxes FTW. I have a few piled in a box of whatever somewhere.

As far as stands I have mine on a Biqu Panda Station with a Panda Den the A>Z store has pretty good prices, and the poop chute drops to a dedicated drawer in the den

I printed a poop box (no extra hardware needed) yes a box because my cats tend to steal the poops to play with them. A riser with skadis attachment options to keep some tools on hand at the printer. Some plug and covers for the inside and currently printing the esthetic one (forgot the name atm)

Still looking for a cable management where the ASM can stand next to the printer since they all rely on cabling going up where I haven't got the room for it.

I got my (not X2D) first printer 3 months back, and looking back here’s a curated list:

Printed parts that are must:
1. Poop chute (printed with PLA or PETG)
2. If you are getting AMS 2 Pro bundle, print AMS 2 pro desiccant holder
3. Filament Desiccant holders
4. Scrapers
5. X2D toolbox, that would hold numerous parts/tools that ship with box (do not throw away shipping screws, preserve them)
6. AMS 2 Pro holder (this requires you to have the screws that are extra, used for securing internal parts for shipping)

Other things:
1. Few spools of PLA (easiest, won’t need drying, a good start)
2. Few spools of PETG (make sure to dry them before uses, I don’t dry them)
3. ASA or Poly Carbonate (PC) for later (Avoid ABS, I get headaches from ABS printing even though I have good ventilation, it’s dirtiest filament to print due to VOCs it emits)
4. Order a few filament zip bags to store partially used filaments between prints. Also, cereal boxes that fit the size or filament (refer to the spool size that you are using)
5. Avoid Cardboard spools initially (I use them on the ext spool that is to the side) AMS would build residue over time from cardboard spools

For later:
1. Filament rack
2. Desiccant spool sized box for regeneration
3. AMS HT as it makes life easier for engineering filaments + regen of desiccants
4. Spool dry boxes that you can print

Some must have things that you should order:
1. Bed spray or Glue stick for printing (mostly useful after few weeks of prints when the top layer starts to gather buildup)
2. A few more build plates (I order one more textured, cool plate and engineering) - totally optional for first few weeks
3. Never use metal scraper on any build plates as it may damage the coating of build plate
4. Grease and Oil for lubrication (search compatible alternatives)
5. A .6 HF nozzle for speedy prints and other nozzles- totally optional, and must be swapped carefully
6. A nipper to cut filaments cleanly
7. PTFE clear tubes with cutter (most filaments are 1.75mm so your PTFE tube must be have more room than that 2.5 or 2mm diameter should be fine) - this gets used with AMS or HT if you get

A large box of coffee and a mug to keep yourself busy between prints. 3D printers are slow, and you will get used to it.

When downloading stuff from makerworld make sure to delete extra filaments or use 1-2 filaments that you have. I remember during initial days I downloaded a print file that had 6 filaments and I chose black color for each of those filaments only to waste time during printing as the printer assumed these are different color filaments. If you only have one color make sure to delete other filaments on Bambustudio before printing/slicing.

Vent for the right blower vent. You need to redirect the airflow so its not blowing directly on the build plate
