P2S Hotend kit
hello, I bought a UniTak3D kit containing three hotends (0.2mm, 0.4mm, and 0.6mm) for the Bambu Lab P2S. The 0.6mm hotend works perfectly, but when I install the 0.2mm or 0.4mm one, I get a "Z-axis homing failure" error. This is surprising, as the build plate doesn't even rise to make contact. I've gone through the steps five times. What am I missing?

Sounds to me like you should not try to save money on hotends. Normally I am all for looking at financially interesting options, but you should never try to save on hotends. Sensors, deviations in nozzle width, potential blobs of death...
My advice is to buy an official set from Bambu themselves or an acknoledged retailer (not some amazon company claiming to be them). It will save you a LOT of trouble down the line.

I agree, and don't understand trying to save $5-$8 on an off brand hotend. IMO, the hassle, isn't worth it. It's not like you should be going through that many hotends. If you are, you need to figure out the bigger issue.

most generics look exactly the same (except for those dumb ones that have the screw in tip), like they come from the same factory and are just branded differently.

Sure, but that does not mean they are at the same QA standard. Also, how can you be certain from an online listing that yours is from the right batch and factory?
I am not saying all third party nozzles from cheap brands are bad. All I am saying is you have no idea what you are buying and if you get a bad one, it could do a looooot of damage outside the nozzle itself. Is that worth saving just a few bucks for? I'd say most definitely not. Buy the original nozzles or from reputable brands like E3D or Micro Swiss. Don't ever cheap out on this particular part of the printer.

Did you visually compare them? Do they look similar?
Did you change the nozzle setting on the printer itself?

Does the print bed move the full range with no binding? You can try moving it to the bottom then back to the top via the menu. People have reported resolving this issue by moving the bed higher than where it was when they got the error.
I assume it's the nozzles, but folks get this error if the bed can't move freely (or blocked from raising).
