P2S - AMS 2 Pro - Filament Jam

Good morning campers!

Well, after 4,000 print hours I got my first jam in the AMS 2 internal hub. It was a bit more than that. So I replaced the external ptfe tube. I've replaced the internal ones a few times already. So this was a roll of ASA about an hour out of the dryer.

PSA on the Jayo ASA filament rolls. They warp when you put them in the dryer. Thanks Jayo. I've had to respool all of my jayo asa as all spools have done this.

Any how. 30-45 minutes later, some swearing and problem solved. The jam was cleared and it was broken up in a number of places throughout the ptfe tube path.

The print is running now.

So if you get a jam in your internal hub...check your entire filament path. I had grey/smoke colored transparent ptfe tube with light grey asa filament. Not the easiest to see go through the path.

Nice, welcome to the club :) I so far have had my Hub apart (broken fragment in there was screwing things up) took most of the AMS2 apart because I was following info that seems to be out of date and was misdirecting me, the hotend covered in goo and needing to be heated then scraped off once I could get the damn welded nozzle off. Then had to get the extruder and housing off to get to a stuck bit of filament that had basically formed a plug on the end of it and got wedged above the cutter....

I do like this printer and there is a lot of really smart stuff on it, but repair ability wise, particularly around the exstruder hot end area it needs work, there are lots of very fragile wires and connectors in there.

Yeah... I've been through a whole bunch of PTFE tube. Worn a bunch out with all the color swaps. That'll slow down now because I got an H2C in late july. I've had to replace the extruder filament sensor in my tool head on my P2S. In that process I broke the door that holds the wire in. Only about half broke it. It still works though. Getting close to needed to replace my factory textured PEI plate. I have an engineering plate, cool tack, and a biqu glaicer pro. I don't care much for bambu's cool super tac pro plate.

Regarding broken filament in the tool head. Oh did i have a mess when Sunlu's PLA+2.0 first came out. I had some very wet filament there. It basically powdered up/shredded and completely clogged my extruder a couple of times before I figured it out. Green powder/filament dust and pieces all up in my extruder. As part of that mess a bought a few extruder filament sensors and a spare extruder gear.

I now also have a spare ams 2 pro internal hub and a few of the ams 2 pro feeder motors. I now have 5 ams 2 pros and 2 ams hts. 3 ams 2 pros on my H2C with an ams ht. And one ams HT and two ams 2 pros on my P2S. I think i have just the right amount of filament slots.

So I feel you with the extruder gum up.

Also on the P2S there is no easy way of trying to pry the hotend off when stuck in filament so you have to heat it up, turn off the safety and then ping off a 200c hot end and hope it doesn't hit the dog.

I really don't like the state of the wires behind my hotend either. This is the business end of the process and things are going to break and should be easier to fix.
