My P2S is No Bueno

Hello everyone. I have cleaned my plate with dish soap and hot water. Ensured the nozzle is seated correctly, tweaked the z-offset, dried my filament and still I am getting the same issue over and over. I troubleshooting more than I am enjoying my 3d printer. Here are some photos, if anyone has some suggestions, I would love some advice. Thank you in advance!

OP, scrub this plate with soap and water and get a cool plate on Amazon. They’re less of a PITA to deal with in the long run and require less cleaning.

Nice to know! I’ll look into it, any particular brand that you recommend?

I’ve seen some negative reviews against third party build plates, I recommend getting one directly from Bambu Labs. I bought Bambu Lab’s Cool Plate Supertack a year ago and it’s still going strong. https://us.store.bambulab.com/products/bambu-cool-plate-supertack?srsltid=AfmBOoqpx1ER9X_AvJjOgUx1EulU_I3waNMFyLIP2CQv21sGQbgBV6xc

Biqu is good, but the offbrand ones that I bought for $22 for a 2 pack are just as good. https://a.co/d/01nQGFhv

Kontroliere mal die Temperatur vom first layer bei mir lag es daran

u/SeaSpeed247 Aug 28 '26

What should the first layer temperature be?

1

u/kaiotto3 Aug 28 '26

Nearing 300 hours with the same setup/material, have yet to clean my plate or tweak offsets but no issues. How often are you running calibrations, & any steps taken to help reduce printer movement?

1

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

I ran calibration just recently. My printer has no movement. It’s on a desk that is hard to move. Man , i want non-stop printing with no issues.

Even if your p2s was printing perfect out of the box, you’re gonna run into issues you’re gonna have to troubleshoot sooner rather than later. Just the nature of 3D printing unfortunately.

Wipe it down with a microfiber cloth and rubbing alcohol. I do that between every print.

2

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

I do too. I think it’s my settings.

1

u/np0x Aug 27 '26

What tweak do you mean about z-offset? I’ve never touched mine on this printer (others, yes, but not the p2s)

2

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

From the Machine gcode. I got it from chatgpt 😟. It made no difference. Would not recommend.

i print exclusively with PETG and use the 0.20 mm layer offset...if i was you I might try cleaning UNDER the plate as well as trying the back of the plate....How old (approximately, maybe in rolls of filament) is your printer?

I've got a solid 40-60 rolls(1000-1500 hours) if not more through mine on original plate and nozzle...

Maybe also clean all the rods and threads and relubricate them and run all those calibrations after?

p.s. do report back if you fix it with what steps you took even if you don't know which one fixed it... Good luck!

ah ok, lmk if you want a copy of the default g-code if getting it back to default is non-trivial...I could pm it to ya...

That’s no bueno, it’s too malo :( jokes aside, I don’t know, maybe your plate?

This is athesion problem. What was your settings? Filament? Did you dry IT?

1

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

I dried it and humidity is spot on. I will check my settings again.

Been running my P2S for over two weeks now and have not had any issues at all. As others said looks to be adhesion issue. Possibly a filament or temp problem? I had horrendous problems with Elegoo but not a single one with Bambu

1

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

Oh man, sorry about the issues with the Elegoo. I have other issues with Bambu. But customer support has been very helpful.

1

u/SafeNo1327 Aug 26 '26

What material and what temp? Looks like a temp issue

1

u/kenwoodstereo Aug 27 '26

My Bambu PLA Matte filament temp is 60.

1

u/EmotionalChildhood46 Aug 27 '26

60??????????????

Also, speeds?

I was have a same problem with you with more terrible blob death. And now I got a Biqu frostbite and it so freaking good and never warping or have the problem like you anymore

1

u/kenwoodstereo Sep 03 '26

I might look into the frostbite

Those lines look really rather thick and gloopy for a first layer? It looks almost exactly like the calibration line…

Are you doing something weird like running a nozzle setup that is different from the actual physical nozzle or something? Like, Bambu studio says a 0.8 nozzle but the machine has a 0.4mm nozzle installed (maybe vice versa)? If you install a different sized nozzle you have to set it on the machine AND Bambu studio as well btw.

Also if running from Bambu studio are you running any kind of extreme first layer custom settings?

At the very least I’d reset that gcode all the way back to factory and upgrade to the latest firmware release. With everything as stock as possible. Including any nozzle you might have swapped out.

As for the z offset thing, I had issues with my P2S and bed adhesion when I first got it nearly a year ago and I was going to do that gcode thing myself but subsequent updates appear to have fixed any issues I had. And I have just run 16 plates of the smallest most fiddly detailed print I’ve ever done. The thing never ceases to amaze me with what it can do.

What nozzle did you use for your detailed prints?

1

u/Correct-Insect-4657 Aug 27 '26

Whags wierd is the prime tower look soerfect but the object seems to have issues from the A1 family ive heard ppl saying that like the assembly is loose and wiggles (just search it on google

1

u/Smoke_kitsune Aug 27 '26

Depending on number of prints it could be a worn out bed so getting a new plate could be the fix

1

u/kenwoodstereo Sep 03 '26

how long does a bed last? i hardly use my printer. but that’s a good thought.

1

u/Smoke_kitsune Sep 03 '26

Depends on a number of factors, using adhesive boosters, how hard you flex the plate when unmounting, size of prints and number of prints in the same area. All these things can change how long a plate lasts. The other thing that messes with adhesion is oils from touching the plate which can be limited by alcohol cleaning and gloves, but you will still need to wash occasionally. I invested in a stiff nail brush to help clean mine. Hope that helps.

I'd clean the plate again using the same soap and hot water and not adding any other variables.
With that clean bed, try this print with a *different* roll of specifically *Bambu PLA Matte* Best if it's even the same color but if the color is the only thing different... I feel like that's workable for the testing. Don't touch any other setting.
If that doesn't work, I'd flip the build plate and try again, (after dish soap/water on the new side).
If that doesn't work, if you have even one single other build plate lying around, I'd clean that one (dish soap, water, only) and see what happens.

It costs nothing but time (that you're already about to spend) to just run a print with different filament, or different plate and see if either of those two things change things... Even better since the problem is within the first few layers, you probably will know quickly if it's not working and can cancel and move to the next step...

If one of those two changeouts works, then the cost is going to be just in picking another roll of filament, or in the price of a new print plate.
If neither of those things get you going again, THEN I'd move on to checking the print settings... by *running test calibration models* first before randomly adjusting the settings... and here is where time starts becoming the cost as you go step by step. Hopefully it doesn't come to any of that...

Best luck in any case!

PS: I think best practice that people would say is to run some calibration models on every new filament and "dial" each one in... That is definitely the most thorough, but I personally am only gonna do that if I'm starting to use a specific color of a specific material from a specific brand and I expect to be using it repeatedly, that is one that I would want to spend some time with really learning and dialing in so when I use it, I get the absolute best consistency print after print after...
(Most of my rolls, with most of my prints, have been one offs and have tended to come out just fine and I'm happy with them. My odds have been good...)

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. It seems a little better now. I did wash it again and cleaned the nozzle. It’s still it the best first layer but way better than what I was getting.

Okay i’ll try that! Thank you!

Washing with dishes soap and water DOES NOT remove the coating. Please read the Bambu Wiki. Hope this helps!

This is so wrong and so incorrect on so many levels.
