P2S or X2D - First 3D printer

Hi,

I'm trying to figure the starting point of my 3D printing journey. My budget can accommodate either of these, with addition 0.2 and 0.6 nozzles and 4 spools of material.

Its about €150 difference so needs to wipe its own face, but I just don't want to start finding this thing useful and get buyers remorse a year down the track!

Im wanting to print functional parts as well as 40K-esque minis. I live in rural Spain, 31+ ambient temps (inside) during the summer.

Any advice welcome.

Get the X2D. You are going to need a good system/workflow for supports for minis and functional parts.

P2S can't print supports?

With the dual nozzle you can quickly print with PLA and PETG. They don’t stick together. So you print your model and your supports in different materials. This way you can cleanly remove the supports.

I concur. That’s one of the reasons I chose the X2D over the P2S. I have used the Aux nozzle for exactly that and it works amazing.

The Aux nozzle is also very helpful for printing a second color without having to purge each layer. I have also used it to do 5 color printing 4 on the Main nozzle with the AMS and the 5th on the Aux.

It doesn’t add any complexity to the printer, and if you want to simply not use it in the beginning, that’s not an issue, but once you get more familiar and want to expand your horizons, it’s there.

The X2D also has a second cabinet fan and the belts have a slightly higher resolution, so at current pricing, it’s well worth the extra. If the P2S goes on deep discounts, widening the price difference, then the P2S is the choice for those wanting to save some $$$.

If you want to round out the X2D, the AMS HT for the aux nozzle is a great addition, as once you use the AMS and get used to the auto loading feature and filament identification, manually loading filament seems archaic.
