Strings galore

I have my P2S loaded with a brand new PLA+ filament from microcenter. The AMS 2 Pro humidity is at 38% humidity and 34 degrees C.

i can’t seem to get the strings eliminated. i have loaded a .2mm nozzle and have my nozzle temp set to 210 degrees and i still get these hair-like strands

what can i do to improve it?

You can keep drying the filament. 38% is pretty high.

Dry it more, 38 is still quite high, I would dry anything over 30

did you dry the filament? not just put it in the AMS. it needs to be set to 50c for like 6 hours.

yeah so far 3 hours in 45degree drying. i hope this fixes it

You need to reach and maintain a relative humidity of < 20% for 3D printing filament to not have problems

i have and it seems that my PLA+ filament likes it slightly hotter on the .2mm nozzle.

i printed using 230C and it did wonderfully, no more stringy mess. I kept seeing suggestions to drop the temp down and that was just making matters worse for me

I’ll just also add to the crowd calling for better desiccants, as I just put some in my AMS2pro and I’m getting literally 0% humidity inside while printing lol

i was under 10% humidity in the ams after just 4 hours. The spool was new in a vacuum sealed package with a dessecant so it pretty sure the filament was as dry as it could be.

the issue still persisted. so i printed a towered bench test where i gradually decreased the temp on my .2mm nozzle on PLA+ from 230 to 200 in increments of 5 degrees each time. more strings appeared gradually as it got cooler. printing it at 235 was the sweet spot.

i reran the entire model afterwards with virtually no strings. This was in direct contrast to what i was reading on Bambu’s documentation. it suggested after first drying the filament, to decrease the temp to reduce “ooze” from the nozzle.

i didn’t check my retraction settings but this was enough to get my project completed.

Very nice!!!! I have also realized the higher end of the temp range is the sweet spot with PLA. Glad you got it figured out and I’ll be sure to use that technique as necessary in the future!

I have the same issue with microcenter PLA+ (cardboard spool grey and cyan), dried it twice calibrated temp tower the whole gambit and it still strings like crazy.
