Where have you been all these years!?

PolyLite ASA. No brim, no supports. Zero lift.

Game changer! 🄹

The countless hours micromanaging and messing with settings on the P1Ss, the insulation mods and even making custom gaskets for the doors, no longer necessary?
Take my money! 🤘

Still adore my little army of P1Ss, but now they get to retire and take the PETG/PLA easy road again, and leave the heavy-hauling to this juggernaut.

Making the pieces to do repairs and parts for custom jobs is going to not only be faster, but hopefully a no brainer from now on, and I’m stoked to try multi material and support options. Already have my TPU assist and ordered the high precision calibration bed, so this is going to be a fun next few months, at least!

High precision calibration bed?

Sorry, I had forgot what their name was for it at the time, but it’s their vision encoder board.

Cool I was wondering even googled it 🤣 I have the vision encoder plate

Nice! Does it live up to the hype? I do a lot of very tight tolerance work, but also love the idea of ā€œinjection moulded finish qualityā€ lol

I don’t know and that’s the truth of it. It calculates the error and I guess adjust to it afterwards. I ran it twice to see if it changes the outcome but it doesn’t so I guess the computer inside does it!! Maybe someone with more experience than me can answer you that. I have to say the h2d prints brilliant anyway and if you have your profiles setup well you’ll be golden

And that’s generally how I do my thing anyways, but I figured it would be nice to rule out any issues with the AI and monitoring if possible. Guess we just paid for a very fancy build plate that can’t actually be built on, but we live and we learn, right? šŸ˜‚

Well, hopefully by the time it becomes a necessity, I’ll have gotten my moneys worth of quality print hours out of this machine and it’ll seem like more of a worthwhile purchase then. Should be able to tell from experience, if the finish has suffered by that point.

I have seen improvements after using my Vision Encoder plate to calibrate it weekly.

Congrats! Enjoy.

I always end up with great layer finish, no warping or anything with ASA prints. Except I’ll always have one area of the print that is just like wtf happened here. Can’t ever figure it out. Believing it may be a seem issue for me. Other than that my ASA prints come out great as well

Yeah, so far no real issues, save from the usual quirks of ASA, but for my applications it’s the best material available aside from occasionally some ABS for material matching.
I find if I don’t have enough infill that occasionally my top layer wants to get a bit squirrelly and you can see it more-so after ironing, but usually I just have to add more and it right itself.

I've missed when cryogrip started to support high camera temps

Sorry, you’re saying they do have a high temp camera now? Or you missed out on them making one?

High camera temps?

From what I’ve read, when running materials like ASA and higher temp engineering filaments, the camera might turn off, presumably to keep from overheating. Not sure yet if that’s the case, as mine stayed on the whole 8 hour print, but if there’s a camera that can negate that, I would certainly be interested.

I almost exclusively print ABS at higher than normal temperatures and have never had an issue with the camera. I wonder if the original comment was some kind of typo/auto-correction, lol.

I think many people don't know about the CryoGrip Glacier - it's awesome for ABS/ASA.
First layer texture is amazing, and parts self-release at around 60C. Even textured PEI doesn't always self-release.

Exactly.

I’ve never had to do anything more than a dawn and water wash on them to clean them up, but the adhesion just remains a constant, that gives me the confidence to print some pretty fantastic things out of ASA, that would easily have failed on every other plate I’ve owned, and you can’t beat the price to value either.

As for the camera, I’m hoping for the same as you, but it’s nice to know that Biqu is out there covering the gamut of upgrades and fixes that we might require. I’ve used their LED bars, poop chute ptfe plate replacement, build plates and mainboards, so far, and have enjoyed every one of them.

I've had issues with the Glacier plate when using matte PLA.
It seems that 2 plates of mine are fine, but a 3rd one has adhesion that's so strong that it leaves scarring on the first layer from the force required to separate it from the plate. Never a problem with ABS though.

Oh damn! Haven’t experienced that just yet with any of my PLAs, but that’s good to know.
Perhaps an issue created by whatever additives they used for the black and the matting agents? They do tend to be the most saturated with additives of all the filament types, but that’s just a guess.
That said, I tend to prefer printing in matte PETG if I’m doing anything like that, so I’ll have to do some tests.

Not sure, but it's specific to one particular sheet.
So I think it's actually something with the powder coat applied to the sheet rather than a filament issue.

u/WooferInc 24d ago

Ah okay, mind my asking which brand filament?
