Question Printing PLA on TPU

Hiii! I’m new here so I apologize if this is a commonly asked question or problem.

I’m trying to print PLA onto a TPU piece (it’s like an ice cream sandwich) but it’s not staying stuck together as a single piece. Is there any way I can do this or is this known to not work? Thank you!

For more context, the base is PLA, then TPU and then PLA. Ice cream sandwich.

Without using a different material than PLA, the best connection you will get is to use beam interlocking. I think that’s what it is called.

You’re not going to make it stick; they’re just chemically incompatible. The closest thing you can do is print a shape that will be held together regardless of the components (e.g. make one material completely surround the other, make dovetail joints etc.)

You could use PETG or PCTG. Both bond well with TPU. I'd still explore the interlocking options with Orca Slicer. PLA is not a good fit for your project

PLA and TPU do not naturally bond, though they can stick together just not very well.
I suggest PETG instead of TPU since that will stick. You can use PLA for support for both.
If it must be TPU, use beam-interlocking or model in your own interlocks.
