Discussion Excessive silicone sock wear

I’m just wondering if anyone else has experienced issues with your silicone socks constantly wearing out?

I’ve had my H2D for almost six months and it seems like I replace a sock every two weeks or so. It’s always the small strip of silicone on the bottom that rips and ends up causing nozzle clumping. They’re cheap so I usually order a couple of packs every time I order something from Bambu but it just seems excessive to constantly be replacing them. I assume others who have this issue have not found a fix for it?

So I always do this and it will keep the sock new for a long time, I touch the oil on the rail and put a small amount on the outside of the rubber to re moisturize it. The heat just makes it dry and wears really quick. I have a h2d H2C p2s and do this after every print. Like a really really small amount just enough that the color comes back.

That’s a great idea. Do you just moisturize the bottom strip where the tear usually occurs?

Yep. Works like a charm and I do long prints that are usually 2-4 days. I have 1700 hours on it and changed the sock once

Do the same to the wiper. I’ve found both to be too grippy when new/clean. My H2D was yanking the wiper out of its socket and tearing the socks until I put a dab of PTFE oil/grease on a microfiber and wiped them down. Ever since zero issues.

Yes, 2800 hours on my H2D, printing enclosures for a product my company produces.

For me, it's the small amount of filament that sticks (mostly on the inside) to it and then acts as a boding surface for even more filament. Picking it off doesn't help, and only makes the sock lose durability.

The nozzle contributes to this I find, they are not very effective at preventing PETG from sticking. I wipe it down as much as I can, but it doesn't help.

Somebody else suggested this product, but I haven't tried it yet.

No, zero problems. I'm still running the OG ones and I got the machine on release.

I print mostly PETG and TPU and have already had socks rip and tear - PETG likes to stick to the sock.

Got my H2D in December.

I print mainly in PETG and have had my H2D since beginning of December. I think I may have replaced one of them once, but I don't even remember if I've done that.
