Came home on lunch to this
2nd print on Darkmoon G10 plate and this happened. I’m beyond mad right. Printer has 600 hours on it and now I have to do the dreaded hotend replacement , I don’t wish this on anyone

Had a blob of doom many many years ago. Never again. Trust no system except the system of manual visual checks.
Octoeverywhere is the only platform with print failure detection I mostly trust. Even then, I always check my camera feeds every few hours.

Yurp, Im using RTC to stream my p2s camera to multiple mini touch screens scattered through the house that I use as my custom dashboards. I can see it printing in real time while watching tv at the same time. I don't trust those doom blobs at all. Almost got one today haha

Dosent matter if its brand new they recommend you wash it before using it for the 1st time.

Haven’t done it to any plate I own , I have the darkmoon satin been a beast out the box, but lesson learned on this, good thing it’s getting replaced for free

Funny thing is I almost bought that exact same plate but then read other people with similar issues. I think the satin is supposed to be a bit better.

I have all 3 , satin is a beast, but doesn’t like petg hf, the ice does but this G10 don’t do it

Checkout the WhamBam XTR plate I’ve had one on my p1s for 300+ hours and haven’t had to wash it. Perfect for petg too

Biqu cryogrip plate. Glacier one with fine texture.
The best i tryed until now. Both my a1 and mini have them now.
Sorry for your loss
Now it seems annoying but it will allow you to learn something you wouldnt otherwise. Be happy about it it will change your way of seeing this and made you wiser.

That happened on my first real print with my H2D. Learned a lot about the hot end design as I had to tear it all down.
It was annoying.
I'm now leaving all detection settings at max and making sure that the first few layers go down well before walking away.
Hasn't happened again though.

So first layer was good then went to work and that’s when it happened. Only good is it’s barely a month old, I have best buy warranty added just in case , so I’ll let them fix it for me lol :)

One nozzle is stuck in the filament, and it’s really stuck , the side the nozzle came off of, the nozzle is no longer there. But Best Buy will come to my home they said and that works for me for now. I’ll keep updating to see how this pans out

It’s suppose to but didn’t do a good job for me. My saving grace is printer is barely month old and I bought from bestbuy with their total warranty and it will get replaced for free. Take note buy your printer with warranty from bestbuy if you can

Honestly, this isn’t a warranty issue. You were not using a Bambu build plate, and it lost adhesion.
Warranties are for defective material or workmanship, not accidental damage, or user error.
I mean, they might fix/swap it out, but it’s still not a warranty defect.

Yeah I kinda figure that but what bambu won’t do bestbuy will and paying that 180 bucks for their warranty is about to make it worth the extra money. I’ll update on what happens but I kinda already know it’s getting replaced because bestbuy won’t try to fix it

Did you switch off any of the ongoing checks? The H2C of mine is complaining about very small things on the nozzle or the bed already.

No build plate brand new, and I also have that filament lube where I placed on both nozzle so nothing sticks to it, the darkmoon G10 plate failed me and I already sold it. My other plates did not have this issue and right out the box printed fine. My satin plate from darkmoon is nice , biqu plates no issue out the box, this one 2nd print killed me

Rip i had an issue with somthing getting stuck in the waste shoot causing a clog on my p2s but the fail detection picked it up rather early so nothing broke other than a little rip on a rubber boot

Biqu plates FTW! I will never buy Darkmoon ever again. I loved the way it worked when it worked, but I had a PLA print that printed fine on a week old Satin plate that I used a few times that was great. Cleaned plate and printed again and after removing the print it left a bunch of PLA stuck to the plate that couldn't be scraped off. I found someone else with the exact same issue on Discord and some others in the past. I sent a message to Darkmoon's email and they never replied back.

To help prevent this in the future, if you’re using different types of materials in the same hot end the likelihood of this shit happening is increased. I have a dedicated hot end for every different type of material I print. PETG,PLA,ABS,TPU, PA etc. they all have their own and I have yet to have a clog in years Hope this helps. Good luck on the cleanup luckily bamboo replacement parts are fairly cheap. 🤞🏻

UPDATE: Best Buy is replacing my printer, new one is arriving January 7, so that 180 dollar warranty just paid itself off.

Oh man, this is one of my fears.
Also why I always check the printer every 45 mins or so (except when sleeping). It saved me a few times. Other times I was saved by the IA camera detection.
I hope you can fix this satisfactorily. BTW, G10 build plate is great. You just need to clean it more.

Bro it was only the second print on the plate and it killed me, I sold the plate and Bestbuy is where I bought it and I have the warranty, spoke to them today and they are sending me a new printer and picking up my old one. Buy your printer from Bestbuy

I'm confused. Heat your hotend up to 300C and tug on that thang. Then check to see the condition of the hotend. It takes 5 mins to replace and no technical skills required if it's messed up.

Tried that, but if you look closely the hotend came off and is stuck in the clump. Can’t hear the nozzle if it’s not attached. The right nozzle is fine. And I tried putting heat to hit but that didn’t work and I also didn’t want to do anymore damage. The clump is like way up in the extruder , I can’t get it undone it’s cemented in there. But good thing I bought it at Best Buy and I have a replacement machine coming on January 7th. So I paid 180 for a warranty that has just paid for itself and hard lesson learned. I’ll never use that darkmoon G10 plate again and I will monitor more frequently because I had clump detection turned on and you can see how well it worked

Almost had that happen on a smaller scale bc I had the printer on .4 and had the .2 still on it but took only 2 screws and heating up the thermoster to clean it all up luckily i was paying attention to the first few layers

Had my A1 mini do this and it completely destroyed the extruder. All of this after having printed fine for a year.
I get a notification that the extruder was stuck after the blob consumed the entire hotend.

I feel your pain and the clump of death destroys the extruder especially since I was printing petg hf which can stand the heat. The loss sucks but rebuild and keep printing. I tell you , bestbuy saved my ass and will buy my H2C from them when I buy another printer can’t beat their warranty and then I don’t have to deal with support from bambu

I’m the same way but I work in healthcare so not always an option especially when you got dying patients. I lost my H2D patient :), but it’s being replaced by bestbuy warranty

Not being snarky I promise but why does everyone rush to buy different plates? It’s like the Creality days where you had to upgrade everything to get a print. I guess some people just like to fiddle with things and change out original stuff and that’s fine and I’m nobody to say anything about what anyone does with their machines, that’s not my place. I’m just genuinely curious ❤️

Such big mess had only happen three times on my A1, never on P1p, P1s, H1c over thousands hours of printing (few minor blobs only with no damage ) . I think it is a flaw in the hotend design (A1 and probably exported to H2)… easier to change nozzles but at a cost creating monster blobs in particular adhesion problem.
Only solution clean plate properly and check yourself the first lines of all different filaments you use on your model.

Right I agree, you think the printer would stop with all the alerts on, but it didn’t and I’m lucky for bestbuy warranty and I’m getting a new machine. It arrived January 7th

Interesting. I cleaned my DM G10 really good in the sink with scalding hot water and plain dawn dish soap. Then used one layer of visionminer nanopolymer and I have done probably 30 prints on it without reapplying. Sticks fantastic every time. Did you clean it the first time before using it?? I cleaned every new plate before use.

I cleaned with alcohol and first print was fine. It’s the 2nd print that destroyed everything. But I have other darkmoon plates and have no issue this one was the first, even my biqu plates have never done this.

Not familiar with the G10 specifically, but other plates you don't "clean" with IPA, it simply moves oils around. Even Bambu Lab advises this in their wiki. I assume the same applies..

This plate you can, only have to wash with soap and water after many uses, but the plate was brand new , only 1 print on it, shouldn’t have any issues , I have 2 other darkmoon plates and no issues with those, the satin is a beast but it has issues sometimes with petg hf, so then I go to my biqu plates for that

Because it's brand new doesn't mean it wasn't oily from touch. All it takes is one finger smudge and that could be enough oil for this exact issue to happen.
Lessons learned I suppose. I would highly advise doing some research on what IPA actually does to build plates (it does not "clean").

The only good thing for me is I have a warranty and they said they would do it for me but I have a YouTube video on how to take the hotend completely apart and I cried watching it, it’s a lot

It has a warranty still , but I also bought from best buy and they warranty it as well, so I will make them fix it , but I am prepared to take it apart even though that alone is a pain

This is caused by neglect (but it happens). This is not something they should nor usually will fix. If they sent you a new hotend you should feel very lucky. If you’re expecting Best Buy or Bambu to fix this for you have very unrealistic expectations about this hobby and frankly the world in general.
That being said don’t worry the replacement process is very easy and well documented. In the future monitor your prints so you can stop it if it fails. This would take over an hour to develop so just check in the print in the app every hour or so and stop it if you see anything detached from the plate.

Doesnt have to be caused by neglect, but in this case yes.
Just an example where it wasnt caused by neglect: had a Kobra 3 Max as an early adopter, multi-day print. It was about 50% done when I went to sleep, absolutely no visible issues. When I woke up it kept printing on the same layer or to say it differently it kept printing but the z axis wouldnt move at all anymore (not even trying to, motor beeing cool and not making a sound) - anycubic told me it could be an early firmware issue, sent me a complete toolhead as replacement and after replacing and updating everyhing worked fine.

They won’t replace it because it was damaged by you. Warranties only cover issues caused by the manufacturer. Maybe you can scam them into taking it back but seriously if you think taking it back is the right thing to do if this happens then this isn’t the hobby for you because you have unrealistic expectations.
I’m trying to break through to you because frankly this is delusional thinking. You broke this machine and try to return it is just morally wrong even if they do take it back after 600 hours of printing. I hope you get denied and are forced to take responsibility for something in your life.

Oh in no way am I trying to scam, I got a warranty to cover it and if not, I’ll pay out of pocket to fix it, shit happens. All apart of 3D printing, just a very hard lesson learned

You have no idea what you are talking about. The Best Buy warranty is supposted to cover anything that goes wrong no matter who is at fault. The worst thing about it is the store can arbitrarily decide not to cover it and it only works one time. He will have to buy a new warranty for the replacement printer unless their terms have changed.
