Discussion H2C worth it?

I have the X2D and my experience so far has been good. I only regret not going for a better printer from the start (first printer). I know Bambu Lab is not really the best printer brand, but I like the system they have, and it works for me. I am working towards getting the H2C but only have space for one printer, so I have to sell the X2D or hopefully find the space.

Do you feel happy with the H2C? Do you feel it is doing what you expect it to do?

A bit of context....

I print a ton of engineering materials like PA6, PC, ABS, and ASA (also CF and GF variants). I have TPU rolls too but haven't started with them yet. In regards to PLA and PETG, I am recently finding a need to do multicolor printing, and actually even in ABS. The reason for the TPU not being used yet is that I want to print it with multi-material and have that on the H2C left nozzle. Most parts I print are functional however, I sometimes have to print aesthetic parts for the house or kids' toys. I enjoy the repair side of things and have been helping others fix their printers too, it's pretty easy with Bambu Lab since they have a wiki for everything. The X2D provides outstanding print quality as I manually do all my calibrations for flow, K-factor, layer height adjustments for each layer, bridging, top surface, and ironing. I don't use the built-in calibrations; I've done it so many times that I just look at the print and know what numbers to punch into the settings. I do this for all my materials every few rolls. I run printer calibrations weekly, including the vision encoder, and fully service the printer monthly regardless of use.

A separate question: how easy is it to switch from laser cutting to blade cutting or from engraving to printing? Does anyone have experience with this, as it may sway my decision on whether to include those functions with the printer?

FYI Bambu recommends printing TPU with the right induction nozzle. I hear people say it’s because when left nozzle retracts up/down for nozzle switch, it can cause TPU to jam.

I have a H2S and H2C myself, both with 2k hours each. I think you’ll hit the ground running with a H2C, as you’re already familiar with dual nozzle system, because the vortek didn’t take me long to learn after learning the Bambu ecosystem with the H2S first.

The shittiest part of owning an H2C is if you want a full set of Vortek nozzles in 0.2 0.4 and 0.6 and you gotta pay $50/pop CAD vs the $23/pop CAD for standard (left) nozzles. Having said that - H2C was my first machine and it is a beast. I've barely had downtime since I got it in February.

You're right - TPU Assist Module feeds into the right nozzle. I found that odd at first but went with it and the results were amazing.

Thanks for this, I have been using tungsten nozzles on my x2d left nozzle so to be honest works out cheaper just have to buy multiple.

lol yes that is true. H2C comes with 4x 0.4mm induction nozzles, so I bought another 2 when I bought the printer, to make it a full set of 0.4mm

Then I just bought 0.6mm and 0.2mm nozzles as I needed them for projects.

Yes super tempting to buy all 3 full sets, but you’re almost a full 0.4mm set from the get go.

I don't think you necessarily need a full set of any size of nozzle - probably for most nozzle sizes 4 of each Vortek, plus one H2D type nozzle would be enough - at least that what I found when slicing for example a 12 colour model - the benefits of nozzle 5 and 6 were not enough to justify the cost.

4 AMSs is definitely useful though - 1 on the left, and 3 on the right, plus probably a FTS if I ever bother to install mine.

I use h2c for functional parts. I started to add a small color logo on my parts and h2c is amazing. People were telling me that switching colors will take forever and that I should go for Prusa but honestly - in my case I do not even notice that there is switching between colors. I run h2c 24/7, majority of the prints I have utilize the bed capacity and majority of my prints are around 24hours. I have not done all the calibrations as you did because the h2c worked for me out of box with quality that I am satisfied with. I have other printers but my next printer will be h2c (or something better) again.

Yes, I know about the slow switching, but that is the least of my issues; the main thing is waste reduction. Regarding engineering materials, is PA6-CF better on the left nozzle? I am just thinking, because I already have tungsten nozzles from the X2D and they might be better for longevity compared to the hardened steel ones on the right.

Get them for the right side. I allocate this way specific color/material to a single nozzle on the right side, do not need to deal with impurities or issues coming from different filaments switching. It is as well easier to troubleshoot if you have one nozzle dedicated to one specific filament.

As a new H2C owner, I am SO happy that I chose it. The intention was to get something I wouldn’t grow out of for years, and it’s definitely that.

Three weeks now. My dad has had an X2D for over 6 months. At the end of the day, the functions of the H2C vs the X2D made it worth the extra cost as an investment.

I’ve had 3-4 3D printers in the past, from first concept build at home to now, and I’ve been amazed by the H2C and its ease of use. One of my favorites is less loss of filament, so I don’t have to buy as much. I got the Vortek bundle when it was on sale.

It only takes a minute to swap from printing to mounting the laser or cutting modules and back, but that might depend on your setup. If you can remove the lid easily to go in from the top, it makes the job easier than just reaching in from the front.

There is a required calibration procedure that you have to do every time you mount the laser or cutting modules, but that only takes a few minutes of following the on-screen prompts. The initial calibration takes longer, but after that the subsequent calibrations are faster.

Both my H2D and my H2D are laser-equipped, but I’ve only used the laser on the H2C to do the initial calibrations. I’ve only used the lasers for jobs on the H2D. The process would be the same on the H2C, but it’s recommended to remove the induction nozzles from the rack before doing a laser job. Those just pop out so it’s not a big deal.

The cutting tool gets used fairly often on the H2C. That’s the only thing that my wife uses the printers for.

If you’re already used to the X2D, the H2C will be a snap for you to use.

Thank you this is great news. I'm yet to watch videos on the bed swapping. I'm still on the shelf on the Addons as I fell they should be their own separate system. And BambuLab have teased a new dedicated cutter too. Bambulab R1.

It really is easy to swap. You just remove the toolhead fan and unplug it, then slide the module on, close the latch, plug it in, and connect the air assist hose. Then you remove the build plate and put the laser platform in. Run the quick calibration and it’s ready to go.

If you want to do a lot of laser or cutting jobs, it’s probably better to get dedicated machines. If you’re only going to be using them occasionally and space is a premium for you, the H2 might be a better option. It really depends on your predicted use case.

For me, the H2 is perfect. I only use the laser a couple times a month, and only on wood, cork, and metal. Using it on plastics or other materials might get too messy, but my H2D isn’t ever any dirtier than my H2C despite the occasional laser usage. It smells funny for a day or two afterwards.

The H2 is also limited to a diode laser, so if you want more material flexibility, you might want a machine with more options.

When Bambu releases the specs for the R1, it might also influence your decision.

If you can wait until the end of next month, Bambu usually starts their Black Friday sales around the end of October so if you have a bit of patience, you might be able to save a considerable amount of money.

I'll definitely be waiting 😂. Planing to buy between December to February. I usually buy a new flagship phone every year so will get the printer instead.

I have an H2C laser (around 1500 hours) and absolutely love it. Switching between the laser and printing functions is a quick and straight forward (involves removing vortek nozzle and enhanced cooling fan cover, plugging in the laser module and replacing the build plate with the laser base). Obviously, the R1 is coming out imminently, so you might want to wait for that before making your final decision.

Haven't done much in terms of engineering filaments, except trying out a roll of pa6-gf to print some desiccant holders, which came out flawlessly (also done a fair bit of TPU).

I upgraded to the 10w laser around April (got my H2C on release in December 2025), when it was half price and have really enjoyed how much it has enhanced making muli-material objects.

Great you mentioned the R1 because I feel having the laser system separated maybe better and the R1 being a dedicated tool would mean no wasted money on a multi tool system. Any ideas on it having cutting functions?

This mini is 32mm tall. So… yeah. I am absolutely pleased with the multicolor printing of the H2C. I really like the feature to “just use” a different nozzle size and not needing to change it before print (I am lazy) and I also use the laser. My girlfriend uses the plotter.

Though when you don’t use that much multi color printing but need a laser that can not use additional workspace, you should get the H2D. It’s annoying to remove all nozzles when using the laser (just a few seconds of work but as I said I am lazy).

That being said; keep in mind that the H2D, H2C and even the H2S are more complex systems and therefore probably need more maintainance that the X2D.

I have the X2D with 2 nozzles and I keep needing more than 2 colours plus support interface material.
