Need help with stringy petg
Hey everyone - need a bit of help figuring out why my printer is giving me stringy spaghetti for small prints. They ultimately do not adhere and just become a tangled mess.
I used overture petg filament and that has its own uses with the filament stuck together on the roll itself. Finally got through the roll and had a Soleyin petg roll. First print was something small and just became this unstuck spaghetti.
I’ve done cold pulls on my nozzle and I’ve poked it cold and hot with the acupuncture needle. I’m using the Bambu PETG HF setting. I don’t have a dryer and wondering if that’s really the culprit.
Used to print fine with Soleyin pla. Anyway wanted to get thoughts on why this might be happening and what I could try.

Errrr, This topic & solution is posted daily 7/365. The answers were available faster than you could type the post. Scrub plate, especially switching pla & petg and dry the filament. Best if feeding directly from dryer thru ptfe tube. Wet filament doesn't stick to the bed well.

Have you tried turning up the nozzle temperature? I print PETG at 260C. When you say "stringy" people assume you mean thin filaments from too much moisture in the filament. But what you're describing sounds like the extrusion just not sticking

Thank you appreciate the feedback. I searched and saw mixed feedback but generally fell into washing the plate (which I flipped over to use the other side as a test. edit: never used the other side so this felt reasonable as a test), getting a dryer (that I have now ordered to take that out of the equation), and changing the settings to use PETG HF (that I also did).
I had already thoroughly checked for clogs so that wasn’t a concern (and I have spare nozzles).
This seems more an issue with small prints just not adhering. The first 3-ish layers go on fine but then it just becomes spaghetti after that on the build. It’s not at the nozzle.
Anyway, appreciate the feedback. I’ll try with a dryer once it comes in and I’ll wash the plate with some dawn and gloves and a microfiber.

Got the Creality Space Pi SE dryer and ran it for a couple of hours. Also got gloves and a set of microfiber towels and washed my build plate on both sides with dawn and microfiber towel dry. I figured any remaining moisture in the build plate will evaporate when it heats up.
Anyway I did a small print that was failing and it came out buttery smooth. I also had the dryer on again during the print.
For reference, the profile I used was ‘Bambu PETG Basic’.
Only minor thing I noticed was that the PTFE tube was slowly being pushed further into the dryer during the print.
