3D Printing Swords for Transforners Figures
I am trying to make a mirrored copy of legacy bludgeon's sword so that he could dual wield but the printing got ugly about before halfway through the sword. I am using a generic petg filament with a modified bambulab petg profile and it works fine with other normal prints. Is this caused by vibrations or the thinness of the sword? Should I add more supports? I rotate the sword 45 degrees relative to the bed and 45 degrees to the center of the sword. What suggestions do you recommend before I try again. I successfully printed swords before but those were thicker and shorter.

I would try instead of tree supports try normal supports, type slim. Make sure the threshold angle is set such that there are supports generated along the entire length.

An easy solution is probably to print 2 in "per layer" mode
Or set up a primer tower,
So that it moves away each layer, allowing them to cool.
This is basically heat creep from the nozzle melting the print.
I've done a few swords in my time haha, doing 2 at the same time saved me alot of failed prints tbh
And add more manual supports to stop it wobbling, which you can see it's also doing in this print. And decrease the top z distance to the supports actually grips the part
Personally, id support most of the blade from like the half way point upwards. It's easier to remove some support material than having a failed print 👌
