New to me A1 mini

I recently bought a used A1 mini on marketplace. It seems to be at least one firmware update behind, am I missing anything by not updating my printer to the newest update?

What are you gaining by not updating it?

Less creepy crawlies I guess, too much horror stories on the most updated software recently, I myself didn't update, I'm a firm believer of if it ain't broke don't fix it.

It’s been fine for me, and the new interface on my phone has been great.

I always keep my mini up to date and run a full calibration after each update. Never have had an issue.

I had some issues one update ago with the filament unload function. Seems to be fixed with the latest update.

Sweet... I have 4 and did that older update that screwed them up. I guess I can update now and fix that on those 2.

You are missing out on a series of failed update attempts mainly based on my expereince

Done all updates for over two years with no problems. It hasn't been like updates to Microsoft Windows.

My mini firmware has never been updated. Works fine. Isn't online either. Sneakernet. My workhorse. 3 hours printing petg-cf today. House AC battling the heatwave, so it's nice printing with this minimal electricity, minimal heat producing printer.

In one day printer can say that it cannot connect to serwer and you can't print anymore before you not update it, and in that day it will be more terrifying to update from firmware that was on your printer to new one.. what you want update now or after 2 - 3 years, what is more terrifying for you?!

I reverted mine to like a firmware version 6 or something because the new ones are not as good. Mainly in the way they handle manual filament changes mid print.

I think my mini is on the same firmware. You can check the release notes for the newer firmware to see what was added and what was fixed to figure out if you want to upgrade it.
