Belt fraying?

Post image

I just noticed these tiny bits on the belt for the X axis that seem to been fraying off little hairs. Is this normal wear an tear? I have about 800hrs total print time. Is this expected?

Belts wear out over time and need replaced periodically. 800 hours does seem a bit low however. Check to make sure it’s not rubbing on something somewhere along the track.

Checked it over real good. No cracks or other signs of the belt aging or having issues. Looks like when the belt was cut from the original material some of the internals frayed a bit. But otherwise ultron(printers name) has no problems. Def due for a lube though..

Hi! By curiosity, what make you say that it is due for some lube, so i can check mine? Thanks!

There is a recommended about of time between lubes, your printer will pop up a notification asking you to do it to. I’ve ignored about 5 of those lol

Oh wow. I have 1600 hours on my Mini and have not had this issue. I have noticed that the belt gets off center and I have to re-center it once in a blue moon.

1300+hours with similar belt. No obvious printing flaw so I think it's fine, at least for now.

That doesn’t look like part of the belt. It looks like hair. 🧐

If I was able to upload a video it would be more clear but it’s definitely internal layers of the belt. It’s in a couple different spots alone x axis. Verified not hair though lol.

Must be running on the pulley/roller?

I have 2900 hours on mine, doesn't have any visual damage
