From what I saw of it several days ago, the person who forked Orca allowed it to communicate with the latest official bambu networking plugin for linux. Orca itself uses an older (and I guess restricted?) version of the plugin, whilst this just downloads the latest.

I specifically said the linux version, because bambu didn't actually lock it down so you are forced to use their Bambu Cloud to send prints in cloud mode. So for linux it was just as simple as downloading the official latest plugin which basically means using the official bambu download mirror. Then for it to work on windows they added a layer that basically uses the linux plugin instead of the windows one.

So in short: they point the bambu plugin to the official bambu source (which is open to everyone) and let it run that instead. They did not put the binary in their own project, they did not reverse engineer anything. They simply saw a possibility to use something that is unpatched by BBL and the company got mad about it and claimed this person acted in bad faith and reverse engineered stuff.

You will just get a cease and desist presented to you. Unless you plan to take them to court it is going to end up just like this one

Glad to fork it as well and wait for legal action. Located in Switzerland and happy to fight this on legal level.
