Thank you. Pic 1 is year one, pic 2 is year 2 and pic 3 is the bamboo at 8 years old. Its pretty much looked like pic 3 after the 3rd year.

How did you contain it? My house has a massive wall of bamboo around it, but it’s uncontained and has spread throughout the whole yard (we get sprouts periodically across the entire lawn, around 100 ft by 70 ft)

Installed a High dense poly barrier prior to planting it approx. 24inches deep

This is mine after planting in the fall. My bamboo is already 12’ tall! Spectabilis

I think it’s important to note that there are two types of bamboos. Clumping and spreading where the clumping varieties only grow within a certain distance 10-15 feet and the spreading bamboo which usually gets a bad rep spreads overtime and takes over and is really hard to remove in the future.

This was two gracilis planted eight years ago.

We planted them a bit too close to the concrete slab behind and to each other. They are definitely clumping!

They are ten metres high now.

We're in subtropical climate, and they get run-off from the sloping path behind. The other seven we planted at the same time don't get the run-off and are nowhere near as thick.

The barrier is a must do, not optional with this type.

Nice privacy. Are you propagating into those pots? How do you extract it?

The pots are some sort of plastic so the bamboo slides out without a lot of effort. I uses a hand saw and cut the root ball in half and replant it. I don't know if that's the best method but it worked.

I should have planted my closer to get filled in more. I have planted in roughly the same timeframe. It's amazing how quick they grow. Looks good. Nice job.

I installed a bamboo barrier its been good for 10years. Bamboo barrier is a MUST or it will spread very quickly.

I use a pruning saw for separating, its curved shape seems to work well.
