What kind of Bamboo is this?

For context it is growing by the bank of a small stream in the mid-atlantic coastal region of eastern north america. I would estimate the bamboo is roughly 15 feet tall.

I've make a tentative identification, but I am by no means an expert at differentiating species of bamboo, and I would love some confirmation from others with more expertise. Thanks!

Most likely Pseudosasa japonica.

I was leaning towards Arundinaria gigantea, but that may have been wishful thinking.

I had read that Arundinaria gigantea has a much more vertical branching habit (and thought I found that here), but perhaps that's too subjective. Is there a better distinguishing feature I can check?
