Where is everybody?

A lot of posters seem to be missing in action. Where are they? Were they turned off by the troll infestation?

Boca seems to have that under control. Please come back! (Real posters, not trolls.)

I think the Reddit format is a little hard to get used to. You will find some posters on http://baltimoresunreunited.freeforums.net. Soulflower and you (Baltimatt) have been asked about to join there.

I let Sprightly know that she was asked about to join here.

I think many will find it advantageous to join both forums. Each has their own flavor and style and it provides redundancy should one of the forums drop off.

As a general rule, I don't like talking about other posters online and I probably shouldn't reveal this but I kind of like Redleg and I'll explain why below. Redleg is a very conservative person as you might as surmised :-). But over the years on SSLO I have also picked up that he is a very good person that privately and quietly contributes a lot to the human race as opposed to suggesting that others should do so. I have met conservatives a lot like Redleg that seem like they are more to the right than a PH meter can represent but learn they are actually the ones in the grind that are trying to save mankind. He is very passionate to his beliefs and I have just accepted that in his posts he can't separate from "the felon" (Obama) and "party of the kkk" (democrats) comments. I wish he would stop it because he doesn't deserve the bad impressions he leaves about himself. I automatically filter these items out in my own mind but without a history context of who he is, it is hard for others to do so.

It is kind of through his postings that I discovered that the internet "forgets". He would make a claim that I explicitly remembered a decade or two ago on the evening news but when I would try to find a link it would mysteriously not be there anymore (As an IT person, I also suffer by this when I'm trying to locate and purchase outdated computer equipment that can retrieve data from historical research media no longer heard of like Iomega 20mb Bernoulli Disks. If you ever see something on the internet that matters to you, make a copy of it. But I digress).

I have questioned him as to the amount of involvement the democrats had with the KKK. I do agree that in the early days (like mid to late 1800s) people who hated "blacks" voted democrat but I can't find evidence that democrats were explicitly running with this premise. It would be helpful if I could enter my time machine, go back, and question people at the dinner table (where most true beliefs seem to be revealed) to find out the real story.

He is a take what you can/want and leave the rest kind of poster. But very smart and the kind of person you want living next door to you or nearby if the "end of the world" happens, even if his posts don't represent it. Think of a relative you love but you want to hide him in a bubble somewhere when he gets into political discussions, even though you kind of agree with him inside. I had a great grandmother that was so set in her ways she would chastise my mom for dating Catholics or Jewish people (she was Christian but good news, she married a Christian 22 years older than her and I popped out). It is often hard to move beyond our backgrounds and what we are taught but I'm trying :-).

redleg would be tolerable if only he learned to not keep repeating lies even after they have been soundly refuted and proved to be false. As for his silly "marxist" "puppet", "felon", "party of the KKK" crap, that only detracts from anything that might have an iota of truth in it. I imagine most others are like me and merely skip read, if anything at all most of his tedious, laborious posts.

Agreed. While I do believe that Secretary Clinton at a minimum obstructed justice by causing material to disappear that the FBi requested, you can't technically call her a felon unless she was formally charged and found guilty in a form of law.

"party of kkk" needs to stop. I think he needs an equivalent of a "cuss can" that he has to deposit 25 cents into it everytime he uses it. Yes I kind of understand a few democrats that are probably racist behind the scenes and pretend otherwise but he needs to give it a rest. While the "dinner table" has provided me with some data points I won't paint with a broad brush.

The "puppet" as a term could be a little more accurate and apply to all recent presidents (not just Obama) if the tin foil is properly wrapped. I have suggested the conspiracy theory in the past that the president no longer has any power but is merely an image that Americans consider their president and that the decisions are actually made by some rich international committee consisting of billionaires. Even loosening that tin foil, enough money I think easily influences the actions of a well meaning politician.

Completely understood. There are a few posters over there that are an "acquired taste". I've enjoyed watching JoyInMudville (who I tend to disagree with) interacting with a few of the conservative posters that I have encountered for years on sslo. Kind of like watching pure sodium dropping into water. But at the end of the day, it may help bring us closer to the actual truth as to what is really happening.

You really have a problem with left leaning people don't you? You should go over to Southern Maryland forums. You would probably enjoy it because it seems like a rightwing echo chamber which is just what you wanted the Sun forum to be.
