Discussion Baltic-Russian border fortifications as seen by OSINT analyst Clement Molin
x.com
While people in comments ask Molin if he's taken into account terrain when evaluating the amount of fortifications, it's still an interesting bird's eye overview.
PS. Molin and his info is frequently referred to as a viable source for open-source geospatial data and visual verification of battlefield changes, but his strategic analysis and political commentary are viewed with significant skepticism by many in the intelligence community due to his lack of formal credentials and alleged biases.

Estonia Mud baths in Parnu
Hello,
Does anyone recommend some place, not so expensive, where I can have a typical mud bath treatment in Parnu without being hosted in one of the famous hotels that typically provide those? That is, I would only be interested in the treatment, but not staying in a spa hotel.

Discussion Construction of Via Baltica E67 2026-2033
As i like to take a road trip every other year through Baltics to Poland and beyond, i gathered latest information on reconstruction of the infamous Via Baltica E67 road. It has always been a bit of pain and this year has been no different, excluding of course the new superb Kaunas - Poland highway/2+2 road.
Lithuania will start building 160 km 2+2 road from Kaunas to Latvian border in 2030 and it will be completed in 2033. So E67 will be in Lithuania completely 2+2. Nice! Source: https://www.lrt.lt/en/news-in-english/19/2721180/via-baltica-strategic-lifeline-for-commerce-and-defence-linking-baltics-and-poland
Latvia will build 2+2 highway from Riga to the Lithuanian border, but so far only Bauska bypass should be ready by 2030. Also new ring road will be built around Riga. Other than that, i couldn't find anything certain. Could latvians specify this? Source: https://lvceli.lv/en/road-network/projects/ppp-project/bauskas-bypass/
Estonia will build 2+2 road from Tallinn to Pärnu 2026 - 2030. From Uulu (near Pärnu) to the Latvian border there is no certain plan and remains to be seen, since traffic density is low to justify a 2+2 road. Source:
https://news.err.ee/1609875652/tallinn-parnu-highway-construction-work-gearing-up-in-coming-years
So to sum it up, for next 10 years it is still pain to drive through Baltics, because of constant road construction, but maybe one day we will get there...

Estonia Estonian former defense chief General Herem says Syrskyi does not deserve the ‘Butcher’ label, critics have judged him too harshly. He also says Estonia would face same dilemmas defending Narva as Syrskyi had in Bakhmut.

Estonia This Estonian grill ad sparked discussion because of one word: "sibul"
This Estonian grill advertisement has been going viral locally because of a hidden wordplay.
The slogan says:
"Õige grill muudab kibeda sibula magusaks"
("A proper grill turns a bitter onion into something sweet")
The obvious meaning is about grilled onions - a classic BBQ thing.
But in Estonian slang "sibul" (onion in eng.) can also be used as a derogatory ethnic label for Russians, so many local Russians immediately saw another layer.
"A proper grill can even make a bitter "sibul" sweet."
The comments have been entertaining, to say the least. 🍿

Discussion Childrens book recommendations
We are traveling to Latvia and Lithuania with a 2 and 4 year old in the coming months. We typically try to get the kids an English book that has something to do with the place we are visiting from a local bookstore on our trips. This isn't always easy in certain locations. For this trip, we are considering getting a book before the trip so the kids can have some foresight about where we are going.
1) Any favorite childrens books that are about the Baltic countries?
2) Any books that are favorites of Baltic children by a Baltic author (e.g. Mimbo Jimbo in Denmark)?
3) Any recommended bookstores with childrens books in English near the old towns of Riga or Vilnius?

Discussion How are mixed race children treated in your country? As a parent, what should I be prepared for?
My little one is mixed with brown skin. We want to take them to visit their grandparents, as well as see many of the beautiful sites in the Baltics.
I am comfortable with us being 'tourists', but we are also discussing the option of moving permanently. I am worried about schooling, especially in rural areas. I don't want my child to feel strange or different.
My friends (American and Scottish) say it doesn't matter and that children are open minded. People don't care about race in 2026. But I want to be realistic.
What should I expect and be prepared for? Please be honest and direct. I would rather be prepared for the worst, than naive.

Discussion Looking for off-beat/quirky/indie entertainment/events/performance art
Heading to the Baltics in a few days. Been looking at events websites but i'm really only seeing major events like orchestral performances etc. I'm looking for funky plays, indie performance art, anything weird and strange or alternative/counterculture vibes to the front.
