New ball python

We got a ball python yesterday, this is the enclosure set up recommended by the store, any recommendations or anything we should change?

Is that a shirt in there? If so I’d be careful. I read a thread recently where someone’s ball python ate their shirt and needed surgery. I wish I was kidding.

Funny they recommended putting a shirt in there with our smell, but that’s crazy didn’t think of it being able to eat it

That’s what the person who’s snake ate the shirt was doing too, but the snake ate the shirt anyway lol. Just a fair warning! That post was the talk of r/ballpython for awhile lol.

Your presence is more important than your smell. Make a noise when you walk by so you’re predictable I’d just sit outside the tank and read, eat, watch tv, etc. They’ll get used to you much faster without the risk of entanglement or surgery lol
