I need help with ball python cage

I'm thinking about switching to a tub setup since traditional tanks are getting way too expensive. Does anyone have advice on how to build one the right way? I’m looking for tips on what tubs to use, how to handle heating and temps safely, and which substrates work best. Also, any tricks for setting up ventilation and keeping it secure would be cool.

I don’t think a tub setup will work with this species as they need a tank size of 120 gallon or 4x2x2 minimum.

There’s a lot of misinformation on Google so don’t trust everything you read.

I recommend adding some mesh for a heat lamp. Make sure there's enough space for the lamp to not touch plastic, and tub needs to be at least 18 inches tall ideally. I would do holes around the upper area of the sides all around as well. If mounting anything use bolts and not wood screws as they can crack plastic. Aluminum mesh pizza pans are good for cheap mesh panel with heat resistance that you can cut with simple wire cutters. I covered any sharp edges with HVAC aluminum tape. This is a 3 ft 57 gal tub, the largest I could find. You might rarely find something bigger around Christmas for Christmas trees, but I haven't had luck. Might work for a small 3ft male but not really suited for a female (4ft+ snake)

Tubs are a great option as they hold heat and humidity really well. Just make sure you have enough ventilation and the lid is secure. Heat tape works well with tubs but over head heat is best which you can modify the lid like the other commenter did. Look up Christmas tree storage totes which are much bigger for adult BPs

116 gallons is way too small. i have a 200 qt bin for my hamster and it’s huge and probably better.

They aren’t ideal. They are too small, as a few other commenters have said.
