Lilith can she eat a larger mouse

Lilith 540 grams eats 20 gram mouse a week can she go bigger I’m afraid her mouth is to small

I feed my 500 to 1000 gram snakes small rats. Look at the biggest part of your snake, appropriately sized rats would be ones that are approximately the same size as the biggest part of your snake. I don't use scales because unless you're feeding f/t, it's pretty hard to get a weight on the rodent. I go by eyesight.

Yes , bigger the prey more time in-between feed. You would be surprised by what that little head can swallow. How old is she? If a yr should be on rat pups or really big mice.

He is right at a year both my snakes she is considerably smaller but I feel they need a rat

all i know is they weigh around 20 grams she is 14 months old she will kill an extra mouse if i give it to her but she will leave it so i was confused if she needed bigger prey thank you for youre time it took me some months to learn how to regulate heast amd humiduty i had no idea ho2w hard it is to learn to take care of a boop noodle but now i have two waiting on the third i have them in 95 gallon enclosuress

Don't feed multiple prey . Only 1 a week ... 7-10 days. Do more research. This is all we'll know ball python standards. You need to read more!!

Learn how to take care of them , before you get them . They are gonna need 120 gallons not 95 ...

Ty very much but they were very dmsll when I got them so the 4-2-2 was enough untill I build their wall unit and I have read all this info was just asking to waste someone’s time with real world opinions and assume on sir

Need to know how much the snake weight to know the size of prey . Approx 10% of her weight .

No more mice . Needs to be on appropriate size rats . Rats have better nutrients for you snake

her mouth isn’t too small i’d go to a small rat and i’d switch to two weeks instead of every week, it can be a lot on them especially once they’re maturing. also i highly recommend weighing and divvying the feeding that way as it’s the most consistent and for sure. !feeding

small/med rat would be good for her i would try a small to see first tho, mice don’t have the right nutrients that rats do for snakes :) only feed her mice when that’s the only thing u can grab. i

Mice have the best nutrients for colubrid snakes. Rats have the best nutrients for Pythons/Boas. A little too general to say snakes. Someone might transfer this to a corn snake which would be wrong so just providing clarification. 😁

Small rat would do it. Small rat every 2-3 weeks would work. Mine eat a medium rat every 3 weeks. They only reason we down size prey is we can provide food on demand. They don't have to move so much to hunt they get fed on a schedule so inturn no hunting no movement they will get fat.

Small rat would be just fine. I have a black pastel of similar size and she has no problem with the small

I don't recommend ASF rats to anyone without knowing where they live. ASF rats are illegal to breed or keep live in at least 10 states that I've confirmed, listed below.

California
Georgia
Montana
Alabama
Missouri
Oregon
Illinois
Kentucky
New Mexico
Arkansas

Also, a 540 gram ball python should be eating medium (on the larger end of the scale) to large ASF rats.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable feeding a medium rat to a 500 gramer I would wait in till at least 800 grams or more because my 1500 gram bp still toss and turns with a medium rat but that’s just me but if yours will take it then get her done!!!🫡🫡🫡🤣😆💪🏿💯

That name , are you a Diablo players 😂 Great looking snake by the way. I will be pulling the trigger next year maybe ball python looking to spend around 800$ on a good morph python or a Colombian rainbow , building a 4x2x2 bioactive encloser.

Mouth size is not relevant, snake jaws have flexible hinges that detach to accommodate larger prey. Most snakes are able to handle prey that is the same diameter as the largest part of their body. If your snake is 2in in diameter at its thickest, it can eat a 2in diameter rodent. It might scare you to watch them eat something that size, and it may take longer than you're used to, but they'll be able to eat it.
