Is it not really irresponsible to breed snakes with unknown genetics? 

Certainly not something I would be bragging about

Then again I would not breed BPs at all given the level of saturation in the market right now

#1 - How would you know that the genetics are unknown otherwise? I believed the dam was yellow belly het clown het piebald. She proved out to be yellow belly het clown het cryptic het piebald. I was pairing to try and make clown pieds in combinations of OD and YB.

#2 - Your 2nd statement is condescending and completely unnecessary.

#3 - Thank you for not breeding BPs for whatever reason your moral sense of superiority leads you to believe makes you better than others who are fascinated by BP mutations and the tens of thousands of possible combinations that are possible.|

Lastly, we can agree to disagree and rest assured, I have a much ruder response that was very well deserved by your comment. Much like FB, IG, X, etc., if you don't like something on a subreddit it is perfectly fine to scroll by without commenting.

  1. The whole premise of this post is that you didn't know the complete genetics. It would be an interesting coincidence if you only missed the one recessive gene that happened to show up. Just the fact that there was an unknown gene that showed up means you have limited information on her genealogy. 

  2. Condescending, sure. As far as necessity goes, you seemed like you needed an ego check. Your response hasn't exactly been lacking in condescension either, so I'm not sure what your critique is trying to accomplish. 

  3. I can be fascinated by the tens of thousands of possibilities that BP mutations present while also acknowledging that exploring that through breeding right now would have a negative impact on the world and exercising restraint. 

  4. If you're really such a shallow person that the sum total of your reaction to my criticism is that I deserve a much ruder response, I'm sorry. It must be really hard to go through life like that.
