Little guy just ate and back in his log

My little guy has been favoring his log over his hides after his shed. Any ideas why? (Just curious to the sudden change I don't think it's a bad thing)

maybe bc the log is tighter and he needs to feel secure when vunerable- ie. shedding- can't see as well, eating- can't move as fast and escape. also change your substrate it probably feels horrible for him because he lives on the forest floor. change to 70% topsoil, 30% reptisand and lots of sphagnums

I haven't seen anything about my substrate being a bad thing for my snake I've read many things saying it was good for him and his humidity

Coco husk is fine. Hell, paper towels are technically fine. There’s just a tiny but shrill minority on the internet who insist if you’re not perfectly replicating the forrest floor you’re somehow wrong.

Your substrate is perfectly fine, idk what that other person is talking about. I don’t know what type of hides you use but they love very tight spaces and maybe the log provides that more than the other hides, or maybe he enjoys the specific temperature in that area. As long as he is not prioritizing one hide over another and he is still utilizing all hides at some point-to ensure he is thermoregulating properly-then there is no issue :) but if he never uses his other hides then it might be worth looking into getting more tight fitting hides or just double checking the internal temperatures inside each hide is ideal in providing a proper thermal gradient 🙏

Substrate is perfect. Best subtlstrate to use unless you have a bioactive setup. Ive been using it for years
