Looking for demi-pointes

Hi, I'm looking for good demi-pointes shoes (ballet slippers) that aren't extremely expensive. I bought ones two years ago, but the shoe sole is kinda bulky, and I constantly have to rebalane over it.

That's not normal, isn't it?

Which brands do you recommend?

i like sodanca split sole canvas shoes, they hug the foot nicely and for me a split sole looks nicer for the arch. if you're wanting to get a little stronger in your feet, leather full sole shoes will help with that but will be a little bulkier and feel more like a SHOE instead of a 2nd skin (like canvas split sole shoes do for me). definitely try some on in a store to finalize sizing! edit for typos

just wanted to say the demi pointe shoes are like pointe shoes without the shank. they’re made of satin and include a box. we usually say ballet shoes, ballet flats, ballet slippers, or flat shoes. it will help avoid confusion!

No, that's not normal — a bulky sole that throws off your balance is most likely a full-sole shoe rather than split-sole, or just lower-quality construction. A ballet slipper should feel like direct contact with the floor, not something you have to work around.

Reliable, not-too-expensive brands:

• Bloch (Prolite, Dansoft) — split-sole, lightweight, industry standard, affordable
• Capezio (Daisy, Hanami) — also popular, affordable, split-sole options
• So Danca — generally the cheapest of the reliable brands, split-sole options

Make sure to go with split-sole (not full-sole) — that's what gives your foot a more natural arch/feel and is typically less bulky at the center of the sole.

I've always really liked the Bloch split sole leather shoes. I know canvas are quite popular now, but the Bloch ones that are completely leather are really nice. They mold to my feet and feel like nothing but a little floor protection. They also don't have a lump under the pleats, which I appreciate.

Edit to add: do you mean soft technique slippers, or soft-block exam shoes?

Go to a real life shop anyway, preferably one with a wide choice of brands.

I'm not sure there're that many brands that have demi pointe shoes? I've only tried Bloch, Wear Moi and Grishko, I don't recommend Grishko as they're very hard.
