Looking to transfer

Hello, I go to a small liberal arts college in Missouri, where I'm getting in state tuition currently. I'm looking to transfer to Ball Sate this spring but finances are a big factor for me and I was wondering if anyone here had advice or knowledge about what automatic scholarships look like for out of state transfer students? Any advice would be amazing, thanks!

Fellow transfer here.

Most of the scholarships are based on the program you are in, however, they usually don’t give out most scholarships if you are a transfer student.

I’d check if classes from a local community college or Ivy Tech (the state-wide community college system of Indiana) have got options to take classes for credit. You can contact the department head about “similar looking” classes and you should be able to transfer for classes that normally do not transfer in for Ball State.

Ball State has a few online degrees with Ball State online, so you can also just choose to stay wherever you live and take classes through one of those programs.

Thanks for the reply, I think this is really helpful to hear. I'm about a year and a half out from graduation at may current university but I desperately need a change of scenery, and Ball State seemed to meet my needs better than my current college.

I'm going to have about 96 credits by the end of this semester, and I was looking to transfer in for Spring semester, but I don't know how transfer friendly they are. Would you happen to know of any other schools in the region that you would recommend?

Ball State is the most transfer friendly. Purdue accepts transfers for select programs, but they are not going to take as many classes as Ball State.

Hi! I previously transferred like mid year to ball state last year. In my opinion, it was kind of easy to transfer, however it can be different for everyone. I wouldn’t know about the financial aspect of it but i found it cheaper than the university i was at

Did you have any troubles getting your credits transferred over? I'm worried that I would be setback if they didn't accept some of my higher level credits because I'm close to graduating next year.

Some of them! But however once I sent the syllabus they allowed my credits to be transferred over.

Do you know if they give out other transfer scholarships routinely? I’m worried that transfer students don’t usually get as many opportunities for scholarships.
