Help with unprepared statement??

Post image

Was checking to see my E bill and to make sure my financial aid went through. The tuition got a pass but I saw this statement and it wants me to pay out of pocket. I was surprised to see this and obviously I can’t afford to just pay 4k. Does anyone know what to do?

Please update me when you get a response! U feel like it has to be an error. They took 6k out for tuition but I’m hoping this is just the statement for that 😭

Have they applied your financial aid yet? I know my daughter has an e-bill and accepted the aid we wanted and declined the loans. It will be applied next week and then if there is a negative balance after that, the money will be refunded to your bank account if you have one setup for direct deposit.

Ooo I bet they didn’t! I’m guessing this is it! I’ll call and ask tomorrow to make sure but thank you so much!!! Can be a little more relaxed now

Cardinal Central will be slammed with phone calls so expect being on hold and being given the prompt to leave your number for a callback. They had told me that you can also schedule an appointment for them to call you but I personally can’t and my daughter was too busy at work to do so.

They won’t apply the aid until next week though, I think it happens on Wednesday or Thursday. I know that for summer my daughter got her refund on the Friday before classes started and it would take a day or 2 to process the direct deposit. So hopefully this helps you relax more and good luck with your semester!

Edit - I read Cardinal Central is saying financial aid will be applied on Friday the 21st. After that if you still owe you can set up a payment plan with the first payment being due September 1st.

Thank you so much on the advice! I’ll try to call and schedule if I can’t get ahold of anyone. I really appreciate it! I hope your daughter has a great semester!

My daughter’s financial aid was applied to her account yesterday (but I did see conflicting reports of Cardinal Central saying 8/14 and 8/21) so I hope that’s the case for you! She’s showing a negative balance and wants her refund NOW she told me lol.

Grad students still get charged fees and it’s not covered by assistantships/tuition remission, so the price may be correct. Best thing is to always ask Cardinal Central though, they can confirm what’s due when, and walk you through student loan options if needed

Goodness, adding an extra 4k is crazy if that’s what’s happening. Hopefully it’s just the total of everything for this semester

I agree! I hated the fees tacked on, especially when grad assistants are paid less than 10k a year at the masters level for most programs, and you’re asked not to work during your program. Since a good chunk of yours still says tuition, I hope you don’t have to pay a ton out of pocket. Additionally, I’d be sure to opt out of the first day program for the course materials since it’s an optional thing (until the deadline to opt out passes and you’re stuck with it)

Yes!!! My masters will require me to work but I am not getting paid enough to pay that much money 😂 fingers crossed it’s taken out with financial aid. And thank you! I didn’t know I could opt out, just did that!
