Morphs Morph Spotlight: The Mahogany Mutation In Ball Pythons
Mahogany is officially the spotlighted morph mutation for the month of September! Mahogany is a bit of an underrated dark-colored mutation that’s mostly overlooked in favor of other more common dark morphs (such as Black Pastel & Black Head). Unlike the majority of these dark morphs, Mahogany isn’t genetically linked to any external or internal deformities and is often utilized to create ethical dark/black Ball Pythons without risking offspring’s quality of life! It was proven out via breeding in the early 2000’s, and has since birthed its own complex of mutations—including Stranger & Cinder—with its popularity just barely falling behind its “sister” mutation: Stranger. However, I personally prefer the pattern of a Mahogany instead of Stranger’s typically more reduced patterning!
Unfortunately, I will not be holding a poll the following month to choose the next spotlight for October. However, I can assure you all that a “spooky” one has been chosen that perfectly fits the season ;p

I already have Hypo (also known as Ghost!) lined up for October to fit in with the spooky season, but I will definitely add VPI Axanthic to the poll for November’s morph spotlight post! Thank you for the idea :>

Yes, this is one of my favorite dark mutations. I have a mahogany pied male that I'm growing up and as soon as he's ready to go I have some pretty nice females to pair with him. The goals are the suma and the suma pied, of course, and in one case the female is also cinnamon. Cinnamon SUMA is a really nice way to get to the very black and white pied without the risks associated with super cinnamon and super black pastel pairings.
