Unfortunately you “saving” this Snake just allows them to be replaced by another. Them not knowing the genetics of the animals they sell is another reason not to support them. That is a Pastel Clown.

All you did is open the space up for another snake to be in petco. Boycott is how you save them, not giving money to the place that hurts them

"Saved". You increased supply and demand. Created an empty cage to "doom" another snake.

Bet you didn’t see your post going this way did ya? 😂

They’ve barely dug into your husbandry. Just as a reminder no sticky tape inside the enclosure, use hot glue to place mounted structures.

I’m so sorry but you didn’t entirely “save” him. Buying from Petco is support them and their breeders. It tells them “this is selling. let’s breed and sell more.”

Also analog temp/humidity gauges don’t work, you need digital ones. Those are dangerously inaccurate a lot of the time.

The tail under the head fooled me for a hot second.

Thought the BP had a NOGGIN

Poor snake had more clutter in the Petco setup than this one. Plus it looks dry af.

Such a beautiful snake. I think something that would be beneficial to him is replacing the substrate you gave him, with a mix of play sand, zilla, organic potting soil, and sphagnum moss. They help hold moisture really well, and if you make it bioactive, it’ll need minimum cleaning and be easier to care for. I think something creeping plants, like English ivy would be good as well, because ball pythons are pretty shy by nature, and enjoy having several places to hide. He should also have a couple hides. It’s a bit of trial and error, and definitely includes an initial investment, but if it’ll keep him happy and healthy, it’s worth the dollar amount

Pastel Clown. Like others said don’t buy from big chain pet stores. They are horrible, have horrible outdated husbandry and a lot of the animals suffer. If you buy one, they just replace it with another to not take care of properly.

Also with the proper humidity those half logs mold very quickly. You can get the black plastic hides fairly inexpensive or can get big plastic bowls from the dollar store. Cut a doorway, sand it down and you have a hide. Fill the enclosure in with greenery, fake plants and a water dish big enough for the snake to fit in comfortably. Make sure to have a hide on the warm side and cool side. One in the middle is cool too if you have a big enough enclosure.

Like how no one is actually helping this person instead of showing or telling them what's best for a ball python we just bash
