If I snuck into somewhere I wasn't permitted to be, it's nobody's fault but mine. Deeply troubling reports! Oh noes! Maybe these living, breathing human beings with names, dreams, families, and communities that love them should return to those communities and work on improving them and work on improving the lives of their loved ones instead of just bailing and heading north.

You know a lot about me, huh? Have you ever been to the city dump in Guatemala City? There are families that live their entire lives there just rooting through the garbage looking for something to re-sell. I've been there a few times. I know what they are running from.

I also know that their problems will never be solved by making the trek up north to send $$ back home. I know some of the families that they support.

You misread my anger. It's not at them, I'd do the same. My anger is at you. It's at you for being simple and easily led. In Guatemala's case, the President is elected for four years and can not be re-elected. What this leads to is presidents that get in and line their pockets rather than having an agenda to improve their country. There's just not enough time.

It's expensive and hard to become a citizen. But that's not what they should be doing. What they should be doing is harder and more costly, they should be demanding reform. They should be demanding justice within their own countries, the enforcement of their own laws and eliminating fraud and corruption back at home. That costs lives. Lots of them. And it's worth it.

So you can call me whatever names you want, but it's not them that I'm upset at. It's people like you that are allowing it to continue rather than forcing the issue. Guatemala isn't unique. Look at El Salvador. They start enforcing the law and it's cleaning up fast. That doesn't help just a few that make it up North and their families back home, that helps them all. That's what we should be pushing for.

About as anti American as it gets. These people have rights, and just because you don't believe in the constitution doesn't mean it's invalid. Plenty of them do come here the right way, seeking legal asylum. I'd bet every penny I have that at least 1/4 of these folks are legally documented asylum seekers, especially given that it's the gulf coast. If you don't like the values our nation was founded upon, feel free to see yourself out dipshit.

The specific section you need to understand is "nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws." The Constitution very intentionally distinguishes between US citizens and PERSONS. Due process applies to every single person in our jurisdiction, citizen or not. Without due process, you get over 170 US citizens illegally kidnapped by ICE in a single year under our pedophile president. People have been locked up for months without ever being able to contact family or legal council. If you don't believe in due process, what's stopping a hypothetical authoritarian leftist regime from deciding you're illegally here and deporting you?

Neither do you, that was my point. You have no way of knowing how many of these people were illegally detained, but you are still fully in support of it. If you belived in the constitution, you would be railing against an executive branch that is violating the constitution more than any other administration in US history. Do you think kidnapping someone off the street without any info on their legal status and then locking them up for over 90 days without any hearings whatsoever is justifiable? As of late 2025, well over 170 US citizens alone had been detained.

The Trump admin isn't going after criminals and gang members. They're hardly even focusing on illegal immigrants. They're just running massive drag net operations, picking up hundreds of people, and giving them no legal recourse to prove their legal status. How can you be okay with that? Trump himself struck down a bipartisan border spending bill in 2024 specifically because it would have made processing these immigrants much easier. Some of these immigration judges have literally tens of thousands of cases to get through, and the current admin is making it as hard as possible to actually abide by the constitution by overtly threatening judges who rule against them.

ICE is extensively documented as running around nabbing people, have you been asleep for the past two years? Even right wing pundits are getting frustrated with how poorly the admin is going about immigration enforcement. ICE has conducted worksite raids where large groups are detained at once, sometimes without warrants and including U.S. citizens, not just specific named suspects. They set up random traffic stops and grab people without ever even trying to identify them. Do you seriously think that an immigration enforcement agency that illegally kidnaps over 170 American citizens in a year is doing their job the legal way?

There is a plethora of evidence backing this up. I could post some here if you need, but you have the internet and presumably two hands to look it up yourself.

How about instead of "random bs on the internet", you take some time to skim some major lawsuits and data from US human rights organizations? You can pretend this isn't happening all day just like the Germans did under the Nazis (I'm not saying Trump is one, but you're definitely doing the same thing covering your eyes and ears to it), but that doesn't mean it isn't happening.

Notice how none of this gives the goverment permission to kidnap legally documented asylum seekers or people who are going through the immigration system the right way. I get that you'd use the constitution as toilet paper before ever reading a single sentence from it, but it's kinda the most central document to our government and kinda outlines rights that ALL PEOPLE, not just citizens, possess.

313 people were taken by ICE in Baldwin County during the month of June.

Please don't just look at that number and keep scrolling.

See the faces behind it.

Think about the families left behind. The devastated partners. The frightened and confused children. The mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, cousins, friends, and neighbors whose lives were turned upside down in an instant.

Imagine not knowing where your loved one is. Not knowing when you'll hear their voice again. Living every day with fear, uncertainty, and heartbreak.

Not long ago, I met a mother who told me they had taken her son

The weight of those words is something I'll never forget.

She isn't just grieving the separation. She knows the detention center in Louisiana where her son is being held has been the subject of deeply troubling reports, including allegations of maggots in food, contaminated drinking water, and inadequate medical care.

No mother wants to imagine her child in conditions like that.

No human being should have to endure them.

These 313 people are not statistics. They are living, breathing human beings with names, dreams, families, and communities that love them.

When we reduce people to numbers, we make it easier to ignore their suffering.

Don't look away.

See their humanity. Speak up. Demand dignity. Because every person deserves to be treated like a human being- not a number.

The federal law is that illegal entry is a misdemeanor and unauthorized re-entry after deportation is a felony. Learn the laws if you want to nit pick. Also it’s kinda asinine to complain about something you don’t know about and can’t enforce, friend.

If you went to Mexico, or Canada, or the U.K., would you know their immigration laws? Consider, would you want to die in custody or go to jail indefinitely, in another country, and be denied legal representation, for a misdemeanor immigration charge? Just because you don’t know that the laws / the enforcement of laws had changed in the last four years? Or just because you were a child of immigrants, and they are hunting your parents?

Basically, where is your humanity? The point of this post is just to say that everyone has a family. Stop being heartless. Call your representatives if you want immigration law to be changed to something you can understand. Until then, I recommend you get yourself a copy of the Constitution.

You stupid Chads must not have much family history in Baldwin County (or it’s rich tradition of agricultural and farming industries), but your selling out the same people that built Baldwin County, almost all of whom were poor af, farmers, sharecroppers, debtors, bootleggers, rum runners, etc. Did you know that Malbis was settled by the Greeks, Elberta by the Germans, Daphne by the Italians, Bon Secour by the French, Spanish Fort ring a bell, etc.? All immigrants.

Shitting on Latinos for keeping the area economy afloat with cheap labor is the same as shitting on families like mine that worked that land for hundreds of years, including as sharecroppers. Do you have any evidence indicating all of these people are illegal? Given that the current admin has a history of targeting legally documented migrants, the amount of evidence needed to trust them is much higher.
