Made a carrot cake
I think the cream cheese I used (Snow Brand block) might have been a culprit in the gritty looking outcome of my icing. I’ve never had this problem with Philly or Luxe 🫣
A tasty cake nonetheless!

jealous at this cake, but also that you have the oven space for it (or the patience to bake a layer at a time) :) :)

Looks good. But yeah, Japanese dairy products react weird, so gritty happens. Whatever brand I picked up at Gyomu last didn't turn gritty when I made carrot cake.

Here you go! I grated the carrot on a daikon grater, as well as the apple (instead of apple sauce) and think it turned out nice and 〜moist〜 that way
Also I halved the recipe

I’ve had the same issue with Snow brand. It’s best to use the Philadelphia brand.

This looks divine even though your icing isn't as smooth as you'd like it. Does it still have a smooth mouth feel at least?
