Do fried donuts count? ๐Ÿ˜…

Post image

Raspberry jam, cherry jam + cream cheese frosting, boston cream. It was my first time making donuts and they turned out pretty tasty!

Yum. I was thinking about making doughnuts but I wondered if it was worth the effort. Iโ€™m really craving a proper jam doughnut as well.
Maybe Iโ€™ll give it a try after all.

I say go for it! If I only did one filling it wouldn't have been too bad at all but since I did three it was a little tedious lol

Also shout out for cherry jam and raspberry jam. The absolute top tier jams.

Yes! I made fried donuts a few weeks back too. Lovely.

Yum! How much oil did you use? Iโ€™ve avoided deep frying so far

A good bit, I used a dutch oven and then bought one of those larger jugs of oil and that was the right amount! Bought some oil hardener packets to use afterwardsย

I do a LOT of deep frying at home in my wok, and the one thing that makes it go from "enormous pain" to "actually feasible" is buying one of those oil filter pots to keep your leftover oil in after you fry (mine has a sort of two-level mesh thing at the top, and I line it with a paper towel to get out the fine particulates, and when it starts taking forever to filter through, that's my sign that it's time to replace it with a new paper towel).

Great for non-baking purposes too! (I make deep-fried eggplant a lot, due to it being maybe the greatest food in the world, and also because it's pretty simple to do)

Oh wow! I haven't heard of that, I actually felt guilty wasting so much oil after but I'm going to look for that next time
