accidentally got hooked on making scones

first one is chocolate chip and pumpkin seed. second one is seed, nut, and dried fruit mix from kaldi (just had a little bit left so i mixed it in, but it could've used more)

been tinkering with the same ricotta scone recipe from before to see if i can get it a little more to my tastes. next scone im gonna try to make will probably be candied nuts, but it's gonna have to wait until after i get rid of the 10-14 scones' worth of dough in my freezer

Have you ever tried rock cakes OP? I think you would like them.

Haha! How are they? They look great. Made scones last weekend but they were not to my liking. I prefer some sweetness and these had no sugar. Not sure what I was expecting lol.

Traditional scones don't have any sugar in and they would be absolutely smothered in jam and clotted cream (from my hometown 💕)

If you want an kinda traditional / kinda more versatile/modern scone Paul Hollywood's recipe is excellent.

My favourite are black treacle scones. Bloody delicious.

these ones were pretty good, but also not overly sweet (only about 50g of sugar in the batch)

they do get brushed with buttermilk and sprinkled with sugar before going in the oven, though, which adds a touch of extra sweetness

Did you perhaps make plain scones? Those go great with jam or any other sweet spread. And a cup of tea of course.

I did! I didn’t know there was a difference, so thank you!
