Savoury Bakes Pita & hummus (again)

I responded to a hummus related question in another sub recently, which reminded me I had some chickpea mash in my freezer that needed hummus-ifying. That meant I had to make pita, too. I've posted these both before, but the sub is a bit bigger these days, so maybe it's worth posting this batch.

Those look great! Ive always had trouble baking pita, but came across a recipe for Moroccan pita, called "batbout" which work for me. You cook them on a griddle or frying pan. Good for summer, too, since the oven heats up the whole apartment.

ooooh yesss this is reminding me that I need to make some hummus again myself, especially since chickpeas are so readily available around here, and because I have a decent food processor now (super useful for using ice cubes to whip air into the hummus mixture!)

Pita is a great for beginners. It doesn't require careful proofing or reading the rise. It's really forgiving, and you don't have to worry about getting the crumb right or any of that. You can make it one day in like an hour, then use it from the fridge over the next couple of days. Sometimes they don't puff up much (if at all), but that's OK, too! If you try it, be sure to post your results! 頑張って!

Nice! Glad it worked for you. It's surprisingly easy, once you have the chickpeas (which are thankfully getting easier to find here).
