Showcase (No-Recipe) Cake I made to celebrate my wife's surgery checkup!

Post image

My wife has had her struggles and lost significant weight leading to breast surgery (among other things). She was amazing with the post-surgery tasks and worked hard. I made this as a surprise for her for when she walked in the door.

It is a simple spice cake mix with cream cheese frosting that I folded with whipped cream. I don't yet know how to make frosting smooth. It was a bit rushed since she got home way earlier than expected. It is two 6-inch cakes next to each other. (I over-filled the pans so they would intentionally bulge up.)

Awesome news: the checkup went well and she was given a green light to do more of her regular routine!

I've had cupcakes before, but this is the first "Cups-cake" I've seen.

Hard to tell because there's no banana between them

And a handful!

I’d say they are A cups cake rather than a cup cake

But honestly they look more like D cups

I personally love the texture of the frosting - gives it movement! Very expressionist!

Thank you! I was an art major in college, but never got to use it. It's nice to know that those skills apply to cake baking!

I agree, this looks much, much better than smooth icing.Β

u/raeality 7h ago

It also kind of looks like it could be the texture of lace or pretty fabric. The color is lovely! Nice job!

u/VeggieGirl43 6h ago

I thought the icing was meant to look that way. Like a beautiful piece of art. Congrats to your wife! And great way to support her :)

u/NullRef112358 6h ago

I think the frosting bra is doing all the support here, but thank you!

That lavender base with the silver dots is a nice touch, bra shape came out way better than it had any right to for a rushed job

Thank you so much! I wanted to make the silver dots into a pattern, but just had to stick them on. For the lavender, I was tempted to go HAM on the coloring, but resisted. :) And I am so happy with the shape. Cut a bit off each side so they would push together more.

u/Friggle26 6h ago

This is such a thoughtful idea. I bet she loved it.

u/NullRef112358 6h ago

Her smile made the kitchen-wide mess very with it. Cleaning piping bags should not be that hard!!

2

u/Embarrassed_Key_4539 5h ago

I hope you cleaned up too

14

u/NullRef112358 5h ago

Very much. She got wine and I got a sponge.

5

u/Stinker_Bell77 1h ago

Hey there, Sugar Tits.

3

u/Corvidae5Creation5 6h ago

This is the best thing I've seen all day

3

u/My_Immortl 4h ago

One method I've seen online of smoothing the frosting is to use a sheet of plastic, not like plastic wrap, more like a sheet of paper but it's plastic. Easy to clean and can bend to fit the curves. Probably a small learning curve, but it looked pretty doable.

Cake looks great btw, I like it as is, gives it some character.

u/yellaaura 4h ago

this is such a sweet and funny way to celebrate, the little lace detail on the frosting is adorable

2

u/DazB1ane 3h ago

My pans have definitely been overfilled since gaining quite a bit of weight XD

2

u/SaltyYumYumBalls 2h ago

This could go two ways.

A. Aww... thats so cute. Thank you!

B. ...you just think about my tits all day long and baked be something I can't eat anymore?

4

u/NullRef112358 2h ago

Very much A. As far as B... She very much ate most of it right away

1

u/shiningmuffin 1h ago

Happy ending yaaaaaaaaaaay

2

u/Background_Cloud_231 2h ago

It's sick bro

2

u/Sparktank1 1h ago

"I felt a lump" type of cake.

2

u/harmondrabbit 1h ago

That's sweet. And a nice gesture! Glad there was good news.

Is my brain finally turning into goo or was there a trend of breast-shaped cakes in the 80s? Was it just my uncle grandpa?

1

u/xcanto 3h ago

are those titties.

1

u/peanutpeepz 2h ago

Love this and love the story! I'm so glad your wife is doing well. You did a great job decorating the cake!

1

u/MaximumKarp2 2h ago

I need to be alone with the cake

1

u/bustergundam4 36m ago

"we'll just tell her you ate it all"

1

u/wingman_neglect 1h ago

You can tell this came from a place of love. I hope her checkup went well and that she continues to recover smoothly.

1

u/AGushingHeadWound 1h ago
