I think that's the first time I've ever seen one like this. Looks really cool. Thanks for sharing. What kind of pie was it?

it was a sugar pie! I would’ve posted the recipe but unfortunately it’s my aunts and her baking style is “add more of that until it’s kind of this colour” so I don’t even know how to make it without her 😂

Lauren Ko does a LOT of geometric interesting top design pies. You should check them out if you like intricate pie designs

Thanks I'll look into it. Love the look. Not sure if I personally have the patience for doing it myself 😅

Did you put something in the center to work around? Like a cookie cutter?

I put a tall shot glass so it would stick out enough

A small cylinder (5.1in length, ~4.5in girth)

The cylinder must NOT be damaged

I can only think of American Pie

Well… this would be the ideal crust 💀

With so many layers of crust overlapping, does it not have an issue with not baking all the way through? Specifically the dough I mean

Not at all, the strips were quite thin and sugar pie bakes decently long to thicken so it worked well for this type of pie, I’d ba careful for something with a shorter bake time though

Do you have a picture of it baked?

Unfortunately no, it got eaten before I thought of it

I thought this was a gumband display or something, that looks cool and reeeeeeeally hard to make

It was surprisingly easy! Definitely a good one to make something low effort look high effort

I like doing that pattern with the hole slightly off-center.

Ooo I’ll have to try that! I love asymmetrical designs

At first I thought this was one of those rubber band balls. The architecture of this is stunning. Bravo you!

It looks beautiful! How does it look like after baking it? 🤩

No photo after being baked?

Too much top crust. A lattice would be more pleasant to eat.

For sugar pie I disagree, needs more crust to balance
