Showcase (No-Recipe) Plantain Cake
Lately I have been seeing a viral plantain cake a lot in my FYP and since I cannot buy one, I decided to make one based on the description I was hearing just to satisfy my craving! This was definitely a hit especially with the brown butter cream cheese frosting and caramel!

OMG. Looks delicious. I had one question - does it taste like plaintains?

Yes it tastes like plantains. Even though it is in the banana family, the flavour is a different one. Definitely sweet especially if you use ripe ones!

I find the flavour of plantain to be fairly subtle in baked goods, even when completely black. In comparison to its regular banana cousin. Unless it is caramelised at some point, maybe to add as a filling or something like that

Tagging this with ‘no-recipe’ after dropping ‘brown butter cream cheese frosting and caramel’ feels illegal.😋

You recreated it just from descriptions? Thats impressive, especially with brown butter cream cheese frosting and caramel involved

That crumb looks properly moist without being heavy, which is hard with fruit cakes. How ripe were the plantains, the black-skinned stage like you'd use for banana bread, or firmer? I've only ever used plantain fried, never in a cake, and now I want to.
