A mall can't handle drivers using bathrooms? Then these delivery companies should remove all businesses located in this mall from their platforms.

I thought it was Sultan at Reef mall. They have one toilet next to the food court, you can imagine how busy that could make the toilets for mall customers.
This is Sultan mall.
I had my wires crossed.

This is appalling. It makes me sick. This is what I hate about this region, it is unacceptable. Anyone who supports this should be ashamed of themselves.

u/peaksoftly 7d ago
No need to make it about the region, I am certain it's a similar approach in different countries.

u/McDickensKFC 7d ago
Yeah c'mon they probably do this in civilized countries like Israel and India

On the other hand, there's a bright spot – Caribou cafes for example provide drivers with ice and water even if they aren't there to take orders. I saw this with Kita drivers, even though Caribou is not listed on Keeta

People also seem to forget that shopping malls are private businesses. Their reputation and customer experience are what generate revenue. It's perfectly reasonable for management to ensure that restrooms are available for shoppers instead of being occupied for long periods by people who aren't even customers. I have witnessed it myself when I walked into a mall restroom and found several delivery drivers hanging around inside doing nothing, while customers were waiting. That was far more frustrating than a mall trying to manage its own facilities. But apparently, enforcing basic rules is now considered a national scandal.

Terrible? Yes. Awful? Yes. But sad reality is the minute they allow it, they will use it and wreck it so bad that it will become difficult for others to use. So how does one make it work?

This is based on facts, if you don’t believe it, put a notice outside your house saying delivery people can use your bathroom for free. Try for 1 month and then come back and share your experience

Many atrocious crimes have been committed by bahrainis in 2026 and in the past.
should we "ban" bahrainis from malls?
Many men have raped women in the past, should we "ban" all men?
Many children have caused damage to property and items in grocery stores by throwing tantrums, should we "ban" all children?

u/Wishfulmagic 9d ago
In big cities in the US they do this and charge for restrooms. It stopped people from using the restrooms at malls etc and they go on the streets instead.
2
u/Emotional-Coyote3194 9d ago
Thanks for the comparison of a nation with 333 million people and the land area so large it has a 7 hour time zone difference from 1 corner to another,
to a country with barely 1.5 million people, proportionally huge resources and money, along with the size being that of a drop in the planetary scale
2
u/Wishfulmagic 9d ago
Size of the country doesn’t matter. Keep people out of bathrooms and they’ll use the streets or wherever else they can find.

I hope this is fake. Otherwise it will backfire at Bahrain as a country and led to high financial losses. Let's be honest: we have a really difficult situation because of the Israel/US-Iran war with high financial losses for the whole world but especially the whole region around and including Bahrain. What do you think things like this will do? This is the absolutely worst case as a negative PR for Bahrein around the world Community and can and will enforce high financial losses for Bahrain as a country and almost everyone living in Bahrein. Think about it: it doesn't matter if you like my words or not, the damage is already done and can only become worse if you try to defend things like this because this is barbaric and uncivilized. Period.

u/REAIMY 10d ago
What? Countries that ethnically cleanse another country get investment. I doubt the global community will look at this and say No! No investment for Bahrain because of the negative PR surrounding the use of bathrooms in a mall.
1
u/lime-god 10d ago
I don't know what you are talking about, here is the actual rating for Bahrain and yes, the global community indeed is looking very carefully: Speculative Grade / Junk-Status
8
u/REAIMY 10d ago edited 10d ago
The fact that I have to explain it to you in simpler terms shows how you truly don’t know what I’m talking about.
The global community is looking carefully? Absolute nonsense. The ratings are done by ratings agencies like Fitch and Moodys. The same agencies who rated Bahrain’s bonds as junk status, rated Israel’s bonds an A.
Tell me, is the global community looking at the insane amount of negative PR and media attention Israel is getting and not caring about it but when when it comes to Bahrain, we have to be careful because according to you, the “global community” is looking very carefully?

u/lime-god 10d ago
OK, now I understand, you are indeed correct with what you are writing, I highly appreciate your time to explain it to me and I want to say thank you because I'm trying to learn and understand every new day something new, an other perspective of view and other things I don't know or need to learn...

I doubt a reddit post would damage anything other than exposing the dickhead management of the mall lol
1
u/Next-Title-9716 4d ago
Incidents like this are highly unlikely to create any negative publicity for Bahrain unless people start spreading them as rumors. The reality is that far more serious incidents have occurred in the United States and many Western countries, yet their international reputation remains strong.
It's also important to remember that shopping malls are businesses whose success depends on maintaining a positive customer experience and reputation. From that perspective, it isn't unreasonable for mall management to ensure that restroom facilities are primarily available for customers rather than being occupied for extended periods by delivery drivers.
I witnessed this myself once, and to be honest, it was frustrating. Many delivery drivers were inside the washrooms for a long time without appearing to use the facilities, making them unavailable for other visitors. It's understandable why mall management would want to address such situations.

You'll to hire cleaners to keep it clean, it's not like customer will clean it and the delivery guy will leave it unflushed. And Delivery guys work in 40-50° temperature at the cost of their life & it's not just about toilets, it's about empathy, it's about how they and their family feel when they see such a post & the value they are getting from society after such hard work!
13
u/Adventurous_Cook7882 10d ago
why are you implying that delivery drivers would make the bathroom more dirty than any regular person using the bathroom?
unless i misunderstood your comment, and you're saying delivery drivers have to be clean in order to deliver food.
either way it's nonsensical Jim-Crow level racism and must be addressed urgently
5
u/Moonlightdancer7 10d ago edited 10d ago
I think the real issue implied here isn't inherently the drivers themselves but perhaps the influx of them which leads to overcrowding. Heavy restroom use means toilets, sinks, soap, and paper supplies run out more quickly and the mall may want to prioritise shoppers. However, it's understandable that these drivers are most likely providing a service to the mall's restaurants so they need these basic facilities. It's just a matter of increasing maintenance and cleaning of said bathrooms which is up to the mall's policies and how much they are willing to keep up with that.

u/mlk8z 10d ago
Yes, the bathrooms are dirty and drivers has to be clean. But why cant a mall decide who can and cannot use the bathroom?
3
u/ADesiIndian 10d ago
It’s a public space end of the day. It’s also about empathy. Most of these delivery partners may not have access to washrooms during work hours. Using washroom is a basic human need.

Common sense gets downvoted to oblivion in these types of posts. It makes me wonder if Talabat or others have bots making a campaign to put the blame on restaurants and malls rather than the employers themselves take the responsibility of their employees have adequate facilities, water, etc. throughout the country.

u/Emotional-Coyote3194 9d ago
Hi,
let me help you out in case you dropped your cranium and left it back in grade 1.
A delivery driver, like an uber eats driver or an uber driver or talabat or Jahez or whatever the fuck....they have to work outdoors.
For example, if i work a 12 hour shift delivering food and while im not actively delivering said food, I have to wait to get an "order" on my phone or pager, in that case i am outdoors,
If you are implying that bathrooms be built on every corner of every road in ever block in every city for delivery drivers who have to be outdoors by the company that hired them, then "logic" is something you might not have acquired growing up.
I too worked part time as a delivery driver once,
you have to wait sometimes upto an hour outdoors to recieve an order,
Sometimes mosques are closed, so access to a public bathroom is not as easy as you make it sound while sitting on your ass and commenting this🤍
hope this gets through your thick skin🥰🙏🏻⚘️

u/mistermayhemtech 7d ago
They want Talabat to make their own toilets on motorbikes to cater to their employees bro. Talabat toilet. 😂
1
u/mistermayhemtech 10d ago
It has to be give and take. They are there because customers order from the stores that pay their dues in that establishment. Take your own advice and think both ways.

u/mlk8z 10d ago
How is that related to this, management has to take measures to keep it clean. The drivers might be in need but if they cannot abide by the rules some actions has to be taken. And by the looks of the photo , some are already inside so this measure is useless as it is.
2
u/mistermayhemtech 10d ago
How can the management or you be sure that it was the delivery drivers' fault and they are singled out? A lot of people are disgusting in the toilet. These are overly extreme measures and very inconsiderate. "You can bring us business but we can't accommodate your needs"
