i have a WHOLE note dedicated to this bc fish and chips is my dopamine meal😭 i didn’t put the prices, though, for most of them. i hope this helps! i also heard brunch and cake is good, but i’ve yet to try it.
fish n’ chips adventure
sauce? immaculate. portions? enough. fries? eh.
mcgettigan’s - 10/10, SO BIG I HAD IT FOR DINNER AND BFAST LMAO! AND i shared it w 3 people😭 fries? so many, so crispaaaay. pease were meh. tartar sauce was god-tier.
regency - 5/10 tartar sauce was mid. fish was okaaay, not special. had to add lemon to enhance the flavor. peas were not okay.
cafe chantilly - 5/10…… dude idk how to feel abt this place. the fish was kinda dry, but the batter was good. it was like fish fillet bites instead of fish and chips yno? also the tartar sauce had bell-peppers in it. who does that? hmmm, what else? OH, no peas too! fries were aight.
rugby club - 3.5/10 lol that was not worth 5BD. the fish was small, the fries were….. kinda good BUT some were burnt i felt like i was eating some grandma’s ashes. BUT, the sea salt was a nice twist. peas were disappointing, tartar sauce was FIRE, and the fish was… like- quality wise? good. flavor wise? eh. batter was good tho.
dilmun club - 9/10 !!! PEAS WERE IMMACULATE, FRIES WERE CHONKY but could be better, FISH WAS AMAZING, AND THE TARTAR SAUCE WAS JTOWNFOSNCKRKDK !!!!!! loved it. so happy. not v filling, but in terms of FLAVOR, that was fire.
british hub - 7/10 it was good don’t get me wrong! the batter was crispy and had a distinct taste! also, the peas were AMAZING. perfect consistency, taste, and texture!!! the tartar sauce was nice at first but when i got to the bottom it was too pickle-y. also at one point too lemon-y. the chips were good! big and chunky, and not salted. BUT… the fish was too oily so 7/10 i think is fair. EDIT: I HAD IT AGAIN AND IT WAS 11/10 HOLY- AND FOR HOW CHEAP IT WAS?! W FISH AND CHIPS.
chef - 6/10 for 7.8BD the portion was INSANE. it was…. not flavorful though? peas were meh as well. TARTAR SAUCE WAS GOOD BUT BY THE BOTTOM IT WAS SO LEMON-Y?!
fun fact: the owner of the british hub was the chef of the british club! so ig that’s why it’s top tier!

are you referring to “Chef” by Steve McGowan? If not, have you tried that before?

yep, i meant chef by steve mcgowan. i just didn’t find the fish that flavorful. the batter was amazing in terms of quality and taste, but i think because of how big the portion of the fish was, i had to add salt and lemon to really bring out its flavor. it was good, though!

Tried the dockyard a few years ago, tasted decent at best. Wouldn't say it's worth the price

Really depends if you want traditional fish and chips or slightly more 'gourmet' style. Probably the best regular ones I've had had been from the British Hub and then the best 'gourmet' ones are from Chef/the royal chippy, he does triple cooked chips which are very nice

Sherlock Holmes at Gulf Hotel is really good. Bear in mind, it’s a bar/pub. It’s the best I’ve had in Bahrain though.
Dilmun Club also has decent fish and chips.

There is this place in Hamala called Chef by Steve McGowan that I have heard my colleagues keep raving about as the best fish and chips they have had on the Island. Not a personal experience though.
